Digging for treasure - game mechanic?
Hi, I can't figure out what this "dig for treasure"-ability does when playing vampire pirates. Esecially for the hero-units. There is the button. I click it. Nothing happens. I tried digging at the approximate region which is shown in the questmap...still nothing. what am I missing?

Thanks!

If THAT location has a buried treasure: Immediately find it upon activating.
If that location does not have treasure: Stop movement for the turn.

If nothing happens you can just give another move order and get out of digging stance, allowing you to use it again the turn after.

Let's be clear here, even the most generous treasure maps are only a single region in a province, and most treasure maps are actually something akin to "As close to this volcano in province XYZ as you can get" or "Hugging the river in THIS province". Which means that sometimes you can think you're at a correct spot but just end up on the wrong edge of the trigger area.

its seems it doesn't give the failed message if your not digging in the correct province.

Yes, no failed message.

Use the magnifying glass and the hint. It's often an animal or little structure on the map you are looking for, or as close to a mountain as possible.
