Any elf faction can build a special landmark in Shrine of Kain to draw the sword, if they're defeated in battle the winner can take the sword.
My Depth gaurd core sorted her spears out easily, I sent Noctilus to fight her thinking shes just a squishy caster on a horse look back 2 seconds later and he is about 60% hp and takes another hit for about 20%. Noped the ♥♥♥♥ right out of there lol. Beat her and looked at its stats theyre insane.
There a lore reason behind its power?
Well, it is the Sword of Khaine, the Elven-God of Murder. Aenarion drew it during the very first War against Chaos, and he wrecked the Daemons ... and the sword's power drove him mad...
It is super powerful, as a weapon of a God should be. With the drawback of insanity. Aenarion, hum, it didn't end too well for him. Went out in a blaze of glory at least...and since that time his descendant like Tyrion are all carrying that curse with them, which is thanks to their ancestor using that sword...
In-Game, if you wonder - only Elves (all three kinds!) can draw it, meaning they can build the shrine of Khaine, then place a lord there and use it.
However ... if you can defeat a wielder of teh sword...you can keep it ^^
Damn that's cool, I'll try to find a video on it on youtube to listen to while playing. Aenarion was the first pheonix king? That's when they walk through the column of fire where malekith got burnt?
Then, after Aenarion's death, the elven princes ignored Malekith, Aenarion's son and instead voted Bel-Shanaar for the throne. Bel-Shanaar walked into the sacred fire like Aenarion once did and was found worthy.
Then, Malekith was a little jealous and spent a few centuries framing Bel-Shanaar for Chaos worship before murdering him and most of the elven princes. Then, he tried to walk into the sacred fire and was turned into an extra crispy version of his former self. Since he canm't rule over the proper elf kingdom, he decided that he would rather found another empire based on murder and debauchery instead.
By the way, if you come up upon another version of this story as is told in The End Time, DO NOT BELIEVE IT.
What is the different story? Now you got me curious.
The alternate story that came out in the end times, rather than being burned due to being unworthy (thanks to all of the trechary and murder he had commited prior). Instead he was actually just being tested and if he had stayed in a moment longer he would have been fine and rightfully become the pheonix king. Effectively dissolving the Dark Elf faction and putting him in charge of the High Elfs.
It works well as an interesting twist, the big issue is that it was more or less completely unforshadowed. Ignoring the civil war and split in the Elven Factions he started, the millenniums of murder, debutchary and general edgyness that was done in his name.
or just put it on Durthu and he becomes literally invulnerable. And he counts as an elf.
True. Plus they also revealed that every Phoenix King elected and made to walk into the fire was actually protected by magical wards to prevent them from burning. Whereas Aenarion and Malekith stepped into the flames unprotected. So really, the flames didn't actually choose a rightful king other than Aenarion (and Malekith had he actually stayed in the flames a bit longer).
Definitely rather silly, considering the vast amount of bad stuff Malekith has done since then. Including trying to undo the Great Vortex.
It also makes the Elven God of Justice and all, Asuryan, look like a giant deekhead...
Yeah, End Times ... thank every god that Total War lets us ------>
