Which Warhammer books are worth reading?
After playing the game for some time, I've actually found the world quite interesting. For those who read books from the WH universe, which books would be worth recommending? And which books would cover the darker factions from their perspective?

Start with Gotrek and Felix, they give an amazing insight into the warhammer world. Only read the ones written by William King.

Also read the Malus Darkblade trilogy, they are just as good and written by Dan Abnett.

They give you the best look possible at Dark Elf society.

Then read Guardians of the Forest by Graham Mcneil

I will edit this post as I go through my old library of warhammer novels.

Moar books that are fantastic.

A list of books for easy reference:

1. Gotrek and Felix Novels

A.Trollslayer
B. Skavenslayer
C.All others written by William King in the series.

2. Malus Darkblade Trilogy
A. The Daemon's Curse
B. Bloodstorm
C. Reaper of Souls

3. Riders of the Dead by Dan Abnett

4. Tyrion and Teclis Novels by William King, same man who wrote Gotrek and Felix

5. Guardians of the Forest by Graham Mcneill

6. Von Carstein Novels by Steven Savile.

The Warhanner Setting is more than capable of providing excellent stories so definitely give these a read.

They are not short but are a quick read bc they are very well written. Dan Abnett and WIlliam King are by far the best writers in the Black Library and anything they write is awesome.

Thanks. I've quickly googled around and saw there are volume editions with 3 books in one volume, calling themselves "omnibus". Are those the same thing?

I also liked the swords of the emperor. Sword of Justice and sword of vengeance (schwartzhelm and helborg)

If you want to get a glimpse into the empire. Even volkmar makes an appearance.

Yes
The Blood of Aenerion Trilogy, The Defenders Of Ulthuan, and Sons Of Ellyrion are great Asur reads to understand the Asur more. The War Of Vengeance goes into detail about what happened with the events before the war between the Dawi and the Asur to its conclusion ( consists of 3 books i suggest buying the trilogy collections which contains all 3 books)

Warrior Priest, Grimblades, Luthor Huss, the Kurt Heldborg and Ludwig Swhartzhelm Books which are actually continuations of each other) The Empire Omnimbus is a collection of stories in the empire war and intrigue. These are books about the empire you will be suprised the things you learn about the empire in these really cool EYE openers if you will.

and The Vampire wars are really badass just head over to amazon and take a dive mate:)

I could potentially (hyopthetically of course) save you some money if I can pm ya. Black Library was only just added to kindle stuff and getting the omnibuses can be expensive.

What is about Guardians of the forest?

About the Gotrek and Felix books, i suggest to read only the first two (Trollslayer and Skavenslayer) and maybe the third.

The other books from the Gotrek saga can be summarized in this way:
"I can't love you cause i am a vampire "
"I still love you even if you are a vampire"

I've read all the books and all, except the last two (matador y matahermanos about the End Times), are great books.

To reiterate Dedmosh, the Gotrek and Felix novels (and Vampire Wars). Especially the Skaven book as that is probably the most iconic and provided an amazing base for them to be portrayed in further lore/novels.

A few from my personal library would be...

1. The Rise of Nagash (Warhammer Chronicles) -

I believe this was the trilogy. It does a solid job showing how Nagash becamse the towering liche of death personified from his beginnings as the head of the Priest Cult back in Nehekhara, the rise of Neferata and the creation of the vampires, the creation of the Tomb Kings as they exist as undead entities and most importantly...more skaven.

2. The Blackhearts Omnibus-

not sure how old you are TC but have you ever seen the Dirty Dozen? This one is basically "The Dirty Dozen" in Warhammer Fantasy. Criminals and nasty folk with sordid backgrounds forced to undertake suicidal missions, and if they survive enough of them...gain their freedom.

3. The Dead and the Damned -

It opens with a small band of people having to fend off a beastmen attack on a little tavern in the middle of nowhere...from their this small band of vagabonds seeking glory and gold end up biting off more than they chew, as the Old World is a very dangerous place. Much more dangerous than the romanticized gang knew...

4. Neferata (warhammer, the book by Josh Reynolds. NOT the Age of Sigmar book) -

This takes place after the vampires are chased away from Nehekhara and Neferata's once envious brother rules a kingdom, and she is forced...to serve. It shows how poorly the vampires work together and how the different bloodlines tried once again to create a civilization ruled by the blood drinkers. It also shows how the strigoi vampires, eventually turned into the near mindless beasts they are now.

5. Tales of the Old World -

This is an anthology book that contains quite a bit of everything just incase you don't tend to favor dead things, like me. It contains two stories specifically that are some of my favorite in the entire range. The first is about 2 wizards who dabble lightly into the magic of the Chaos gods seeking essentially "easy money", only it isn't.

The second story in the anthoogy is about a famous painter who is summoned by a mysterious benefactor to meet with them to do a painting.

So these are just a few I can recommend. Are they mind blowingly amazing as my personal favorite book of all time Don Quixote?

Not in the slightest, but they're fun reads. They're also very affordable via looking on Amazon and Ebay.

Check out https://www.blacklibrary.com/ as well if you don't mind reading in eBook format as they are really affordable.

I can't stand reading books that I can't physically hold but I'm aware many don't have the hangups that I do.
