Mourngul Haunters are more than slightly powerful
These things have A LOT of hp, speed, decent charge, high armor piercing dps, anti infantry attack, 30% missile resist, hunger, fear and terror, a slowing aura, siege attacker, stalk, and vanguard deployment. All of this is baseline too, and it only gets better with skills (not just stas either, it gets more attributes). this thing is by far the best melee hero in game.

It is. It's seriously overpowered xD

Though, it's not an auto-win unit. You can still lose hard even with 2 in your armies. Well, in Multiplayer of course, not really against the A.I

Hmmm, is Mourngul Haunters more powerful because within same army to cover other unit's weskness? I wonder Mourngul Haunters is make up for other unit's weskness?

Er, no it isn't. You havent looked at the stats or used them yet have you. They have 50-100% more hp than other heroes, and though big, it isnt colossal and it it hugs the ground pretty closely so you can't just fill the thing with arrows as easilly as say a giant, and even if you could it resists better than most large creatures anyway with its baseline (and yes, it gets further upgrades here). It also has dps equivalent to many others, but primarilly in ap form, while its speed and charge bonus combined with stalk and vanguard deployment makes it easy to sneak up on and fight/kill VIPs, and your slow aura (and later your chilling attacks) prevents their escape (assuming they were faster than you to begin with), and that isn't even all.

I'm not saying they will solo an entire army, but man do empire captains, along with a number of other melee heroes and lords look pathetic in comparison.

Hmmm, I try out in quick battle, and I found it's not that powrful, but not bad, not weak units, but it's not that powerful, I'm not a impressed, based it's monster units, sort of slow moving cavary eat up infantry but not great fighting vs other mounts (cold blood with mount car eat Mourngul Haunters up with half heath left.

Mourngul haunter is expensive, slow, has no armor and its regen is based on its ability to stay in combat. It might be good, but certainly not some crazy bonkers OP unit. We already have plenty of far more powerful heroes in the game.

It certainly isn't slow, and its armor is fine, just not amazing, but even that is offset by the resistances it can obtain, and when you say expensive I assume you mean in mp, because I found the sp cost to be fine, but I'm talking about sp (I was implying that when I talked about skills). I'm not aware of any far more powerful heroes either, lords yes, such as ancient treeman, but no heroes just pop in my head, barring MAYBE a late game carno riding hero.

That is disregarding the fact that the mourngul has a slowing aoe, and stalk and vanguard to make him a monster waiting to pounce, part of which isn't as clear in a 1 on 1 custom battle, and old ones are lords not heroes, and while I did note that they can give many lords, even melee ones, a hard time, that was not one I had in mind. Particularly becuase that one is very heavilly anti-large.

My haunter got 250 kills in the final mission in my noctillus campaign. Noctillus himself had 350, and he was mounted on a necrofex, and had powerful AoE spells. It's not normal for a melee hero to get that many kills, that dude is an unstoppable beast if you spec him right. He took on and won singlehandedly against dwarven longbeards and hammerers who were supported by 1 unit of thunderers.
But, I like it :D .

That's not how unit pricing should work.

Which heroes would that be?

are you not familiar with CA's practice of making their new factions OP for 1-2 weeks, then nerfing everything?

they'll get to it, im pretty sure they do this on purpose

in single player a lot of units can get super op with experience and all the different tech and items, mourngul haunter really isn't that powerful where it counts (in mp) it's good but not op

LLs maybe, but heroes no, Just try to make other melee heroes like a paladin, empire captain, or wight king op, and where it counts is sp considering most either outright don't play mp at all, or do so infrequently.

no way man, you can do some insane ♥♥♥♥ with death hags or any melee hero really

and sp really doesnt matter much for balancing, you can already mod yourself 1000 in every stat and get achievements, mp balance is the main thing that is considered
