The bombing can do some decent damage but not enough to justify their place in the army. Otherwise their ability to attack enemies isn't great.
That all said they are the fastest thing you can possible use to take out artillery. Though you might be better off just getting more artillery units yourself and trying to counter artillery that way.
SP gyros are just not worth it for anything but themes/memes. Normal artillery will do just about everything they do better. It's not really that gyros are bad btw, just that they get outperformed by everything else that comes in by the time they appear on the field.
The AOE ones iirc....eh. They were OK.
All copters have terrible melee, can't kill even artillery crews. Only distract.
And you can't hotkey bombs in wh1-2 (you can in wh3), which makes them terrible experience to use.
BUT, as dwarves, copters are your only option of a mobile unit. So it may be worth keeping 1-2 despite all the drawbacks. And occasionally you find Grimgor in pure melee army, and just kill him from above with brimstone copter/bomber before melee contact.
This was true when this thread was made back in 2020, but nowadays Dwarves can put Mournfang Cav in their army (albeit at a hefty price).
