AI Movement cheating?
I'ts happened so many times, you corner an AI army where if it was yours, there'd be no chance of escape, yet the AI in the same situation, somehow always seems to always find a way out?

Yes I know there's a tiny sliver of land that's not guarded, but that has never helped my armies to escape.

Oh, the player can do that as well, it's just it's so much rarer for the player to have found themselves in a place or position where they both CAN retreat and need to, and for the escape route to take them along the navigable part of that sliver of terrain.

Ai knows exactly where to stand to get out of things usually. As for me it's only annoying when you have more than enough movement to retry to attack but they end up getting a super long retreat movement and now you definitely cant catch them.

A good trick is to order an attack, then hit backspace whilst within their zone of control but before you actually connect with their army. They are now stuck in YOUR zone of control (unless they can Beastpath/Underway/Worldroot their way out of there) and you can use your full movement next turn to chase them down.

It's been happening since Rome 1. Threads like these have been happening since Rome 1 and every thread fills up with people trying to dismiss it to get one over on someone who they don't even know for the sake of a free snipe and ego stroke. This ♥♥♥♥ honestly just needs to stop. It's an issue, it's always been an issue, cheating AI is annoying as all ♥♥♥♥. Players lose to AI or make mistakes against AI because players make decisions and formulate sequential steps based on the understanding of game mechanics and the (unfortunately naive) assumption that such mechanics are intrinsic and concrete when in fact they can and do from time to time just cease to exist.

Does that work even if you don't have enough movement to connect? It must be how AI is doing it to me then, because I always seem to get stuck in their control zone...

It's the worst when they get an absurd long retreat movement. When i retreat they can always reach me again for some reason :isaac:

If you don't have the movement to attack them (and force them to retreat)then the trick won't work. Your army goes to attack them, you cancel the order as they're walking through the enemy's zone of control, and you've now cheesed the AI so they can't move on their turn. It's cheesey, but if the AI is gonna be a bunch of cheating ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ then it's fair enough to do that if you ask me.

They are on force march, force march means more movement points, even players can do that.

There's an answer for cheating AI: play on normal difficulty or lower. Seem like the ones that need to stroke ego and stuff are guys who THINK they can play games on hardest difficulties without TRULY KNOWING the game mechanics.

People who KNOW the game mechanics embrace the cheating AI since Rome 1 because it gave them epic battles and AI a chance for challenging battles.

You're justifying the AI not following its own game mechanics because it makes the game more difficult? How about make the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI harder? Currently the only thing that gives the AI an edge on legendary is arbitrary unit stat and ecconomy handicap modifiers and you think inconsistent adherence to core game mechanics helps matters? The idiocy is frankly breathtaking.

Tch tch tch, seem like someone mad, I don't need to justify anything to you really, different taste and all that.

Ok go ahead and amuse idiots like me, why dont you play on normal difficulty where AI get the same stuff as you and leave difficult things to guys like me to enjoy ? Why go for legendary if you cant play it properly, normal difficulty, normal battle difficulty, realistic battle on, no save game aside from autosave. Boom you got legendary feel for normal difficulty.

We both play legendary. What is your point exactly? The AI cheats on all difficulties. A cheat is a cheat whether it unexpectedly pops up for a newbie 4 hours in on easy or a 20 year veteran on legendary. AI should follow the game mechanics it's that simple.

AI has cheats even on easy. They're not as bad, but they're still there.

U know mate the ai is still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retarded on normal or easy, so both of these are a cakewalk. Dont personally have an issue with the ai cheating even tho it is annoying, but i can see where hes comming from.
