Kroq-Gar on Grymloq
Playing Kroq-Gar, I have the Revered Spear of Tlanxla and Hand of the Gods, and now I have the opportunity to get Grymloq. When I hover my cursor over Grymloq skill, and the stats on the left side change, it appears the equipment benefits all go away, e.g. no more magical attack, no more Hand of the Gods bonus spell, melee attack/defense and charge decrease. Sure, you get terror and almost double hit points and of course speed doubles... but does being on the mount really nerf your equipment? I read somewhere that the newly calculated stats don't show equipped gear but that post was from 2017, is it still true?

Yes. The numbers you see for the mount show the "base" stats without any bonuses from items, skills, abilities, etc. Once you actually select it, you will see the real stats (usually quite a bit higher)

Update: jotted down stats before and after Grymloq and the nerfing wasn't as bad. Lost a few points of melee attack/defense, but not as many as it predicted, significant increase in charge bonus despite it predicting lower, lost hide but did not lose Hand of the Gods bonus spell as predicted. So it appears the game still can't accurately predict how a mount will affect stats with equipment.

That's because the game only shows the base stats of the mount, not whatever is going to be on it. It's not trying to predict the stats of the character so much as give you an overview of what is going to change the most - HP, speed, charge, and melee attack/defence usually.

Besides, the exact display of the stats becomes almost irrelevant after a certain point. Any mount is better than no mount, way more than 9/10.

This doesn't even factor in the extra mass and animations. Grymloq is what makes Kroq-Gar the top tier lord he is.

Yeah that mount/shown stat thingy happens with basically all Lords/Heroes. But usually Mounts are always better then going around on foot (faster = more kills) and especially the big murder mounts are usually worth it. Even if there are some LLs where it can be debated. Settra for example, I would prefer on his Chariot instead the Sphinx, but in the end both choices are better then having Settra trying to reach the frontlines on foot.

So pick Grymloq as fast as you can and become the legendary murder machine Kroq-Gar is supposed to be.

Not entirely true, some mounts (like War Mammoths) make your Lords huge targets, and make it easier for Missile and Artillery troops to damage.

All mounts make their riders easier to hit with ranged. With the exception of horses, most of them offset this by being simply awesome. Besides, this is Warhammer! Cool trumps practical every time.

Not everytime, though I have to admit that I always go for Mammoth mounts, because Siege Attacker is way too good a pay-off.
