Looks like there are a few other Sea Monsters that could be made in the future. I did not know the Kharibdyss was originally a Sea Monster either. Dragon Turtle, Mutant-Mermaids, lesser-Merwyrms would be cool to see. The bio for Saltspite includes something about a Mer-Manticore as well.
Maybe have a Sea Dragon (can that even fly?) , Lesser-Kraken or Triton as a single number monster like a cross between the queen bess and Dread Saurian.
I'm just brainstorming, but it would be interesting to see in the future.
Sartosian units also for what ive found work really well for me, sure they arent all that special but the ones I tend to start with seem to stick around for a long time and often come out as most kills in every battle. Also every thing the other Vampirates get she can get so not sure why that would be an issue... i tend to go straight for the Vampire Captains for piratecoving and some lore of the depths.
Then again im probably biased towards her since i like the idea of a army of undead that are also along side the living. Pirates shouldnt discriminate.
Noctilus barely took 100 turns to finish with only 1 city 1 army and a billion coves
Harkin debatable better than cylostra, but cylostra has some unique things going for her that make it a toss up.
Saltspite definitely got the short end of the stick, err, peg? I LOVE free company as the empire, for the first couple dozen turns. And just like empire, sartosan free company get phased out mid game. Which is sad for a faction/lord unique unit. Her start is also just the worst of the bunch geography wise, in both campaigns.
Cataphs southern realms mod had a faction with elite tier free company militia style units, and they were a blast to play with. If aranessa's unique units had just been given another unit tier 4, in addition to what she already has, that would have made a huge difference.
Noctilus does seem like easy mode compared to the others. I'm not really complaining though. I love the Cannons and NecroFlex Collosi army I'm running.
Trivia: Charybdis is a sea monster from the Odessy. Something I didn't know but just read, was that she/it was also a daughter of Poseidon, the sea god.
Yeah really the last paragraph was my main point re OP. If there was just a t4 version of her unique unit available it would have made all the difference for her
I agree. Maybe a slightly more expensive version of the Sartosa Free Company + Militia with Stalk? Would that be too OP? I mainly use them to hide in trees and wait for a flank.
Ah ok. I was wondering where they got that from. I remember the part now. They were sailing close to a vortex on one side and the Kharibdyss on another. They had to take the loss of several men to save the ship if I remember correctly. Thanks for the refresher!
I was thinking some type of cavalry (Outriders (Grenade Launcher)), but I don't know of many pirates that are known for using a horse.
Next time, if there is one, check out "Nanu´s Pirates of Sartosa overhaul".
Having a blast with it, it´s not terribly well balanced, so might want to pump the difficulty up a bit, but it sure is entertaining!
Looks good! I like the idea of a dwarf powder cook!
