Is it possible to confederate mannfred as vlad?
I'm currently playing as vlad in a Hard/Hard campaign, and was wondering if it was possible to confederate with mannfred.

It's possible, but not entirely easy. Not sure what the key is to successfully do so.

Just keep him alive, trade, non agressiin, defensive then military alliance, fight his ememies, etc, etc

At one point he'll accept, just make sure he hasnt lost his important settlements before that.

Well I've conquered his settlmenets, but not his ( I mean MINE Castle), did I already screw up?

No that's fine. Strength difference plays a huge part in confederations. Beating him up means he's very weak and likely to agree to a confederation. He may hate you too much right now but that will quickly change as you expand in other directions. He hates everyone and the enemy of my enemy is my friend in this game to a ridiculous degree (thus the constant Skaven/Dwarf alliances).

Why is it recommended? I always kill him off, because I want both Templehof and Drakenhof.

Mannfred is a powerful caster for sure, but when I'm fielding army stacks I just use the Bloodline Lords, I have too many of those that losing Mannfred means nothing to me.

AI Mannfred skills himself like ♥♥♥♥ anyway.

Mannfred is one of the most powerful casters in the game. He has ridiculous recharge with his unique items, cheaper spells and can go toe to toe in melee with most things on his mount. Yes the Bloodlines are great but Mannfred won't stop you from getting them.

But yes the AI mangles his skills.

Because both vlad+ isabella and mannfred+ghorst are fun lords. Why wouldn't I confed each other? I can wait for whatever benefits because taking down empire ai's as quick as possible is my priority always. Don't really need the bonus right away so I can wait. And both Mannfred and vlad are easy confeds both seem to build bad armies and make horrible decisions.

Easiest way to confed him. Take Drakenhoff from him while he's taking Eshen. Then move to destroy his army. After you sack his settlement, he will sue for peace. Once you have peace, you just need to wait for him to get stomped by the Dawi or Orcs. Once he loses his army, you can immediately confederate him.

Reduce him to one province, say Templehoff, and vasalize him. Let him grow Templehoff with his madd AI bonuses, while you build everything else and do Von Carstein things. Once He's built up Templehoff to Tier IV/V, he should mad love you because you been his daddy taking care of him. Release him as a vassal, and provided you're big/powerful enough, you should be able to confederate him ~10 turns later.

The fun thing is that releasing someone as a vassal is counted as breaking a treaty with them and makes them dislike you for it. Which at least was addressed in Three Kingdoms by giving you the option to liberate a vassal - and sometimes, hilariously, I've seen the vassal say "Please no I want to stay!"
