High elf Alarielle question
Morning all!

Been a while since I played a high elf campaign, was contemplating a Queen Alarielle play through but I recall starting a quick map up at one point in the past and being disappointed that her unique units could only be constructed in her capital city. Am I recalling that correctly? And if so, (again if memory serves) those particular units did not seem so powerful that global recruitment made them worth the investment. I could be missing something terribly obvious however so thanks for any input.

I... Personally avoid them, they´re the same as their Wood Elf counterparts, but unlike them, Allarielle´s can´t be improved much, (or at all?) meaning they will get progressively worse as the campaign goes on, unlike your other units who will benifit more and more from tech and lord-skills.
Shame, I love the idea of them, but I just can´t actually find a use for them that ordinary elves don´t do better.

The treekin and treeman essetially allow Alarielle to use less flyers and concentrate their roles in a battle, flyers for HE have quite a few jobs they can do thoughout a battle so limitng that where you can is a good thing but I don't recruit a lot of forest spirits, late game I might 2 treekin 1 treeman to use on my melee line, with perhaps two flyers.

You can build the building but the units arent better than anything else in the HE roster and the buffs that Alarielle has for them are only for her army. Likewise, you will lose a lot of factionwide buffs when you buff the spirit units.

The treekin and treemen are... Passably useful. If only due to the fact that the High Elves don't have any units in their roster like them. The dryads are garbage though.

As others have said you can't buff them without locking out the factionwide buffs in Alarielle's skill tree, which is really not worth doing for 1 army of tree units.

Treekin are an early game power spike, just like with the wood elves. They raise AC odds significantly, and are unbeatable front line holders in manual combat vs anything you will fight over the first 50ish turns. They should be phased out once you have T4-5 units with red line buffs available to them

Wood elves I just sit in athel loren with a quarter stack for the first 20ish turns until I get a half stack worth of tree kin, rest archers, then murder the 2 middle wood elf factions in rapid succession. Then you have an economy and can field whatever you want.

You know you can confederate those wood elf factions right?

Blood and Fire over Tradition Dictates any day. That being said both could be redone

It takes too long for most players to be worth it though.

Yes but it takes longer than killing them. Confederate the other legendary lord, but the 2 minors it's more efficient to kill them with treekin

You dont really need those 2 regions early on. It is just 2 extra regions that you need to defend and develope. Let the AI build up and protect the settlements to tier 4 or even 5, and then confederate.

On topic:
Avelorn has access to unique units, but they are not really worth it. Her other path allows for better usage of Sisters of Avelorn and Handmaidens.
The tree spirit units does not really add anything to your armies other than the novelty of having those units. I guess they are somewhat durable, but they wont allow your armies to perform better.
Past turn 100, you have access to much better units(and research and skill lines that boost them) and will regret going the spirit path.

Also closer on topic: has anyone managed to get 100% Trust in Alarielle? Seriously, there's apparently ALWAYS somewhere in Ulthuan that is not under High Elf control, and I'm starting to suspect it is the Isle of the Dead...which cannot be landed upon, has no settlements to control, and does not really register as a province/region in any other capacity but this one.

100% is not that much of an issue. I think "people's trust" means that if there are territories that are negative towards you(or not having a certain degree of treaties) will be subtracted(in addition to not having the entirety of Ulthuan). Or maybe it is public order. Or a combination.

All I really know is that by the time I have stabilized Ulthuan(usually only me and my allies left on it) I am at 100%.
