They are also vital when fighting in wooded area's where artillery wont work.
They're okay, if you know what you're hitting at:
- gyrocopters need flank shots on infantry blobs as they fire in a bit of a line
- gyrocopters with brimstone should be spent on single targets except they're quite bad at it
- gyrobombers should be spent like a mobile WoM indepentent Urannon's Thunderbolt, don't rely on their actual missile damage to kill things
I don't see them as ranged units they are hybrid units but they are competing with particularly missile infantry units for slots in a army composition for a few reasons one being dawi's ability to revamp their backline in higher tiers.
My current army in the early game right now is differrent than before.
2 Xbows
4 Grudge Throwers
6 Warriors
Rest Miners
When I attack a keep, I just target everything on the door...By the time my dwarves are pulling up to it its already been opened, and my Dawi just pour through like a tidal wave.
I have a Runesmith now so I pop armor aura when the archers are in range.
When shooting at the main body of the enemy force Gyros don't necessarily get alot of kills but they take chunks out of the health pool so that my own infantry can finish them off.
The bombers though... Next to useless at shooting things but as the name implies better at bombing. I don't use them other than the RoR in emergencies.
