Mortal Empires map
Does the condensed map bother anyone else? I want to play ME so bad but the condensed map bothers me so much that I always stop and just go back to the vortex campaign. /:

Nope, I find it's in a good spot as it is.

Edit: should maybe specify a bit more.

First the lost settlements from vortex are not bothering me, after all ME has still 50% more settlements.

Also, those settlements lost to the south and especially to the west were never the relevant to me.

Also, I find the turn times in ME to be quite long already (still bearable). Adding the whole vortex to the old world would mean even longer turn times then already.

Finally, that Ulthuan is so close to the old world is actually a good thing for me. Sailing never had been that much fun and at least everything is close enough to be bearable.

(Side note: keep also in mind it's a planned trilogy. Just imagine how much time/RAM/patience game 3 with ALL settlements would require).

What in particular are you bothered by?

The trimmed continents?

The different layout of provinces and settlements?

The moved continents relative to each other?

In answer to the question, doesn't really bother me, no.

Yeah I guess it's just all of that in combination, I don't really see why they have to do it the way they did instead of just combining the two main maps you know?

it would get boring for some to spend 300turns per campaign

Its still massive, so not personally no. Still takes me 100+ turns to see the world
I don't really like the lack of faction variety some areas have in ME, mostly the southlands. The last patch made that better though.
I was a bit upset too, but then i saw a map of warhammer fantasy and compared it to the vortex and me maps and the ME map, geographically, is more similar to the canon map than the vortex one

In my mind, the focus of the setting was always the Old World. Yeah, you've got the HE and DE fighting their long war way over there, but there's not a lot else of interest. The Lizardmen were (from my POV) a late expansion, stuffed into the corner. The Tomb Kings on the south disde of the map, and the Ogres and Chaos Dwarfs just next door, balancing out the Elven war with some factions to the east.

The Vortex map is unsual, being focussed on the Vortex and with a few shreds of the Old World around the edge...

The ME map:
a) pares off those bits that aren't near the center of the action (IE, the Old World). West Naggaroth, south Lustria, south Southlands.... whatever, goodbye. Not important to me.

b) squidges the continents together so you can get from A to B to C reasonably quickly. Fine to me. There's a time for cartagraphic integretiy and a time for playability. This is the latter.

c) I rarely notice that something's been removed, to be honest....

And it still takes ages, with everyone on the board.... I think it's about as big as it can reasonably be...

Additionally, this discussion was had, in detail, repeatedly, when the map was first revealed. So you may be getting fewer replies to this than you might expect.

Well I do. Not only I am bothered that they reduce Ulthuan and all the other Vortex regions to only 2/3 of the map and the great see feels more like a like, it feels somewhat disturbing to see how big Bretonnia and Athel Loren can really be in Season of Revelation and how small they still are in Mortal Empires.
