Edit: should maybe specify a bit more.
First the lost settlements from vortex are not bothering me, after all ME has still 50% more settlements.
Also, those settlements lost to the south and especially to the west were never the relevant to me.
Also, I find the turn times in ME to be quite long already (still bearable). Adding the whole vortex to the old world would mean even longer turn times then already.
Finally, that Ulthuan is so close to the old world is actually a good thing for me. Sailing never had been that much fun and at least everything is close enough to be bearable.
(Side note: keep also in mind it's a planned trilogy. Just imagine how much time/RAM/patience game 3 with ALL settlements would require).
The trimmed continents?
The different layout of provinces and settlements?
The moved continents relative to each other?
In answer to the question, doesn't really bother me, no.
The Vortex map is unsual, being focussed on the Vortex and with a few shreds of the Old World around the edge...
The ME map:
a) pares off those bits that aren't near the center of the action (IE, the Old World). West Naggaroth, south Lustria, south Southlands.... whatever, goodbye. Not important to me.
b) squidges the continents together so you can get from A to B to C reasonably quickly. Fine to me. There's a time for cartagraphic integretiy and a time for playability. This is the latter.
c) I rarely notice that something's been removed, to be honest....
And it still takes ages, with everyone on the board.... I think it's about as big as it can reasonably be...
Additionally, this discussion was had, in detail, repeatedly, when the map was first revealed. So you may be getting fewer replies to this than you might expect.
this a thread that been dead for more than year now. Did you really need to Necro it?
