Why the Lizardmen and High Elves compete in story campaign?
I don't get why I am getting negative diplomatic with the Lizardmen when playing as High Elves and vice versa after every ritual? I can get why Malekith and Skaven hardly befriend since they are driven by difference goals, one is to rule and other try to ruin everything. But I can't get over the fact why the Lizardmen and High Elves would try to hinder each when their goal is essentually the same, preserving and bolster the vortex defense and keep the deamon out. Somehow two world defenders end up killing each others while the world is dying. This type of friendly fire is just beyond stupid.

It's a little bit complicated to explain.

Like explaining why it's a bad thing that they have another team work on another game that people who aren't you might value?

Sometimes they're allies in the lore sometimes they arent. And both need the same thing during the campaign for different reasons.

Well after winning the Lizardmen decide it's time for warmblood genocide so there is that bit.

Just because their goal of strengthening the magics to prevent the invasion of Chaos is the same, doesn't mean that they get along with each other. The political elements as well as control over the Vortex itself is of paramount importance to both sides. Basically yes if High elves win its a good thing for the Lizardmen, but it means that the Lizardmen can't do all that they want. Plus it leaves the High Elves in a position of power and control that the Lizardmen don't want them to have.

Sure neither force wants the forces of Chaos to win, but they don't want each other to win either.
Also while the High Elves winning over the vortex is still good for the lizardmen, the lizardmen winning over the vortex isn't... exactly good for the high elves.
Or most races for that matter.

So, what happens if Dark Elves win? Cuz playing as Malekith atm
Malekith becomes a living god and no one can stop him.
So, bad for everyone but him. And his mom.

Neat.

I would put it mostly down to arrogance. Although their goals are technically aligned, the High Elves look down on the Lizardmen as a less developled and cultured civilization whose leaders are very powerful mages for some bizzar reason. While the Lizardmen see the High Elves as a young (relatively) upstart race that lacks the wisdom and maturity to properly guide the world.

alright, so the Lizardmen suddenly decided to go full nazi after the last ritual. That's pretty much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. There is tech in high elf tech tree called "Upholder of Order", and the description of the tech literally say both races are on it together, though the diplomat bonus is nowhere near to overcome the penalty from the ritual. Let just say the Lizardmen want the vortex for themselves, but really, then they shouldn't have any trouble with the Asurs when they trying to fix their vortex.

The whole purging thing happens so casually at the ending tho. They were literally minding their own business at the beginning.

I mean the Lizardmen's main objective effectively being the purging of all undesirable life is a pretty major lore point since that's the step of the Great Plan that they're on. And it makes sense the Elves would be gunning to remain in control of it since it's in the center of Ulthaun. Also, people who should be on the same side fighting each other for petty reasons when it'd be ultimately better to work as a team is very much the norm for Warhammer. And the High Elves as a whole aren't exactly on a good streak with working with allies. See: War of Vengeance.

You seem to be one of those people who got into Warhammer because of Total War:Warhammer, which is no problem. But then you also suddenly think you know what you're talking about and are trying to apply logic to a purposefully illogical setting. To not like its content, thats fine. To say it's stupid illogical ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and it would be a lot easier if they worked together, that's the point.

Sometimes, even they can't stand Tyrion...

Mostly because the Lizardmen have the brains of peanut-size. They were slaves to the Old Ones, who made sure their supreme creation, the Asur, got everything and more, but the Lizards fail to realize that without the Old Ones, they should bow to the Asur instead.

So in their misguided coldblooded ways, the Lizards think they follow some grandiose plan of the Old Ones, making most people's lives miserable (ask the Kharaz Ankor about that ...). Sometimes Lizard Mages kinda make sure Chaos doesn't get too strong by battling it, but that is more or less the only thing they are good for...

If only the Lizards would finally accept THEIR role in the Old One's plans - as servants to the supreme Asur. The Asur who, by the way, realized that Chaos spawned endlessly and figured out a plan, while the Lizards kept clubbing the endless streams of adds, hissing "LEEROY JENKINS" as they got almost extinct...

Instead the Lizard only chase after golden plaques all the time, thinking the cooking recipes of the Old Ones are super mysterious genius plans...

The above unbiased and neutral explanation is brought to you by Eldawin Flameheart, Head Scribe of the white Tower of Hoeth
