Fast Forward AI turns
Why do I have to keep pressing that button?

I've gone into the options and haven't found anything that says fast forward AI turns by default.

How is it impossible to have that on by default lacking to be an option....

Do you play single player? If so, then there's a button in the top left called Camera Settings. Set camera to off and animation speed to fastest for the type of factions you don't want to see. These settings are unavailable in multiplayer.
