Ulthuan is a strategic nightmare (me venting)
I've just realised that the worst expirience in all my campaigns always comes from defending Ulthuan.

It is the worst place in Warhammer universe. Easy to reach, hard to defend, mountains make fast reinforcements impossible, anybody can raid coastal towns.
As Malekith I had to deal with 28 stacks siege of Lothern.
As Tyrion in vortex I'm surrounded by Settra, Enshin, Malekith, Morathi amd Dreadfleet. Their stacks form clearly visible CURRENTS from all sides that flood this poor deformed island.

And they don't fight. They avoid sea battles. You can't catch up with AI in the open sea, mage ''block army'' ability can't be implemented there. They land in twenty different landing spots and start running around in circles and raid and sack.

This is so frustrating.

Don't confederate nor own the entire island to yourself, keep some of the High Elves on the outer ring of the island alive and have military alliances with them.

This way, you will only have to deal with half the problem the island has with invasions.

Well, the north belongs to Alariel the everDumb pompous ♥♥♥♥♥. Though she Is technically at war with dark elves, they don't really bother her that much )
I really wish I could confed her, but it seems like +190 relation is not enough. It seems my queen won't love me until I pay her hefty sum.

Oh.
I also have a brother down south.

He's a moron and an arrogant prick.
But that is at least somehow funny.

This is why playing as Alith is the way to go. Secure the Nagarythe and the shrine of Khaine, and screw the rest of it. Let Tyrion and the Hippy fight over it.

When I played as Allariel I allied with Tyrion and we split the donut in half. I hoped to confed him so that I would own it whole but he wouldn't agree till the very end. After I started I conquered all northwest parts and left to deal with dark elves who kept sending armies at my chariot settlement. Went east with the main army to clear all norscan settlements after dealing with that faction that summons blood voyages. One army defended newly conquered settlements on the dark elven coast, half army was protecting ulthuan from ocassional dark elves who still decided to go straight there instead of the closer place on their continent. After clearing Norsca (and Sartosa just because it was close) main army went back and started clearing their continent. Minor army went northwest to clear Norsca from few remaining settlements in the far north. Main army defeated Morathi and tomb king faction before proceeding further south. After that there was a battle for Lustria and some skaven faction sent their unexpected army few times and even managed to take Vaul's anvil (thanks Tyrion for not helping at all...). Other than that there was no more trouble on the Ulthuan shores.

This was before the last patch so I could leave enemy black arks just sailing around without any fear of them doing anything. I heard they can attack coastal settlements now, so more minor settlements would be in danger (although it may make easier to destroy those arks).

At least it is in the middle of the ocean so enemies are rarely travelling there. I hate being stuck in the middle of the continent with potential enemies on all sides so as soon as I start any campaign I usually look for a direction to the closest coast and follow it until I have my borders against a safety of the sea.

Yeeee, to be fair the cuck brothers don't really offer much anymore. Allariel is "fun" to play in the sens of having a pair of massive, supple, bulging... bonuses + Unique rites and Forest Spirits so there's a case to be made for her but ... c'mon.... SkavenElves are just to silly overpowered to ignore. Subtle but significant different between starting a battle with a ninja rat 5ft away or a unit of DRAGON PRINCES! And if your running SFO the master marksman doesn't even miss half his shots!

And hell if you manage to confederate the stance is still faction wide.... being able to offensively ambush tyrion like some kind of shinny balistic missle aimed at say the enemy Tomb King / Admiral / Vampire Lord is erm... "effective"
