Whoever OPed the Depth Guard
I'm really hoping at least you are happy about it pal.

The ♥♥♥♥ing fingers of god.

Something is going on when the same effort that gets a base unit erased causes -no- damage to another. It's a basic rule. At least a little damage, man. These guys appear untouched at the end of the battle even after two clean trebuchet shots.

IDK what's going on... they regen?

well they are heavily armored vampires so
They heal while in melee combat, but that really doesn't do enough to mitigate what you describe.

In fact, I've never seen what you describe.

They have the hunger bro . . . so that explains it, that's how they work, and they are not OP, they are considered trash by many

So you're basically sending trash against the BEST unit in the game to counter it and you're surprised you've lost that badly ?

Welp.

trying to counter the best chaff clearing unit in the game with chaff

thats the equivalent of sending skavenslaves to fight swordmasters and being surprised that the skavenslaves lose

depth guard have 90 armour meaning any unit lacking AP "aka chaff" will do next to nothing

they have 59 MA frenzy dual wield and massive WS

they also have a good CB and on top of that they have the hunger

there weakness? burst damage they have low models and there frenzy can be disabled and they only regen when in melee so... hit em with cav hit em with AP units and they go down very fast

Greatswords eat them for lunch and ask for seconds. The only thing depth guard are good at is munching on tier 1 trash.

Must be the Grimhammer from what I'm reading here. I'll go see

Pretty sure that nearly any other elite unit will kick Depth Guard's ass.

They're kinda supposed to be, without the Depth Guard the Vampire Coast have so little in the way of melee lorewise.
Winger Jan 9, 2020 @ 11:45am
Vids or it didn't happen :P

Depth Guard are, and always have been... garbage? Too few model count, too expensive, no armour pierce damage, roflstomped by anything which has any respectable AP damage; worst bang for buck infantry compared to all other tier 5 infantry stat-wise (both the dual axe and halberd variants) and definitely not a T5 worthy unit :P

What did they engage? Peasant mobs?

And about the trebuchet thingy... Depth Guard are so few in numbers it is highly likely that the trebuchet barely touched a couple of them.

While Depth Guard are certainly a unit that you shouldn't underestimate, they're not overpowered at all. I'd actually would like to see them with more troops in the unit because 45 is too small. The only thing that they've got going for them is The Hunger - trait, which only works on the ones that are alive, not dead.

Depth Guard have been summed up very well here.
Moving on.

The better thing to really go on about.....What are they good for?
Absolutely nothing....
What are they good for?
Absolutely nothing.

When you get them free as a garison force....Then its possible to get them into a fight with their full strength...Cause otherwise they tend to get killed off by ranged fire, since their HP and model count is pretty low considering.

There are too many other good picks for armies though...There are times I'd rather just have say 2 more units of Zombies than a single Depth Guard.
