Just tested Shades stalk....definitely broken, any mods?
Shades currently arent worth 1100/unit, as stalk doesnt work.....first tried just sitting the unit, got spotted far away. Then, after reading stalk descritption "can move undetected through any terrain", I said, "aha, so unit has to be moving". But didnt work....unit was hidden at start, then detected as it moved through open terrain.

I was under the impression you could move behind an enemy force undetected, then only an attack order would blow the cover.

Any comments?

They're not "invisible", they'll be detected eventually. You can easily see this with skavens and orks, where you'll see an army of ork boyz advancing and suddenly a handful of night goblins show up as well.

It really depends on the...distance. And "Far away" is very...subjective. Screenshot of when out of sight/in sight would be way better.

It only applies if they are a certain distance away, should be a little over the standard archer range maybe a bit further. As long as you're careful and keep them a reasonable distance away it should be fine, just don't approach the enemy until the moment you plan to attack.

keep some distance they will be spotted if too close.
some units are able to detect hidden units over a great distance for example lizardmen with predatory senses.
i used them in my campaign just now and they work just fine for me.

you can move behind the enemy no problem. shades also got vanguard deployment going. depending on the battelfield there should be two areas for vanguard in the corners of the map on your opponents side.

Stalk allows you to neutralize any range advantage other side might have and start fight in optimal position (spread out half-circle converging on enemy, most of the time).
Against AI anyway. Campaign-wise Shades are single best unit ever (since unlike dragons/etc you can actually use them for most of the campaign).

1+, if you get shadowarrow on one of your lords, the enemie will only see you if he allready die from shoting.

Did you turn fire at will off? If they fire they get spotted because they don't have sniper.

Excellent advice guys, u r the best!! Summary advice for anyone else:

1. Keep distance, about the range of typical archer, 125
2. Turn off fire at will.

You guys were right, as usual, just tried this, worked just like above. Actually is balanced....you can still sneak behind at a distance, and , surprise!! But they do get some warning, you dont just appear right next to their lord.

So maybe next time instead of assuming something is broken, AND saying it as fact, don't look so stupid and just ask what is happening?
