Which factions aren't somewhat evil
Okay, so I've played Empire and Dwarf campaigns, both of which are pretty good since I didn't need to hear them going on about how everyone else was inferior all the time or being hilariously evil.
Considering a Lizardmen or Tomb Kings campaign, but concerned that I'm gonna end up having to genocide arguably good factions or commit various atrocities. I'd play Brettonnia, but they're French, and therefore automatically evil.

How high is the campaign-forced douchebaggery level for the not-outright-evil factions?

High Elves, Lizardmen, Bretonnia, Wood Elves, and I suppose Tomb Kings aren't evil (Except Arkhan) but they are pretty isolationist and selfish.

IMO though the "good" factions are all pretty boring since you don't get to experience the JOY that is the Empire/Dwarf superblock endgame.

High Elves are consider good

Lizardmen dont care but kill everything that doesnt fit their narrative but they hate chaos

Tomb Kings just wanna be left alone, but if you dont you anger them to the point that Settra walked an entire army from Nehekhara to Norsca to reclaim his crown, slaughtering every Norscan snd his tribe that has set foot on the sands of the desert.

Good and evil alignments again? No faction is purely good in this franchise, what one see's in a "good" faction can be seen as evil in another, none of them are perfectly good, some may appear closer to good or neutral but all of them have done at least some things that are seen as morally wrong.

Yeah, but when one is mostly about heroics or survival while the other is about slavery and stabbing each other in the back...

But in Total War, you're forced sooner or later to fight good factions since they always dominate the old world.

@OP Your best bet would be High Elves (Alarielle), you don't have to fight any good faction until you control a quarter of the map (Naggarond and Ulthuan).

As I said, some may appear closer to good or neutral but all of them have done at least some things that are seen as morally wrong, even the factions that see themselves as beacons of hope and justice.

There are obviously factions that are "more evil" then others but...yea, this is why trying to categorize good and evil alignments in this game leads to interesting conversations, and may be difficult.

Its more Lawful vs Chaotic but basically

"Good" factions: Empire, Dwarfs, High Elves, Bretonnia, Lizardmen and Wood Elves (sort of)

Neutral: Tomb Kings & Ogre Kingdoms

Evil: Warriors of Chaos, Norsca, Beastmen, Daemons, Vampire Counts & Coast, Dark Elves, Greenskins and Skaven.

Its very debatable.

Take Bretonnia for example, the majority of their population are "filthy peasants" that are treated pretty much like slaves by the "noble" class and they go on crusades against stuff they see as evil (even if the factions they crusade against are better then they are sometimes). Id say that Bretonnia are more evil then for example the Tomb Kings, that are for the most part just a normal kingdom that wants to be left alone that just happens to be undead.

When it comes to the truly evil factions however, they are bonkers over the top cartoony evilness incarnated by our standards (even if they themselves don't see it that way) :D.

No fraction are good, almost all are gray area to evil, empire forced people pay tax, drafts mens into military for their political, that's not consider good factions, Dwarf got drunk and, beat up someone or kill and like to mock other or quickly anger even it's not right, Even Vampires are better political because they don't need gold os tax is low to none, but maybe blood tax once in while, depending on who vampires lord or lady is, and they can rise undead into military without pay wage and not cost living a live, unless it's enemies, I would said gray area to evil but no choice to fully evil but had choice to destroy everything.

Hey, it's fine that my friends and family got fed to undead abominations cause at least I don't pay taxes! Truly a morally superior choice to evil taxes!

Most factions are good. Maybe not entirely good but at least edible.

Hey! You´re biased.
And the occasional civic bloodletting is clearly better than having them burnt as witches for looking funny, or knowing too much.

Not that -I´m- biased or anything!

Not all blood, I guess it's might be 10% of your blood every 6 months or criminals is one fed to vampires and undead beasts.
Inardesco Jan 28, 2020 @ 9:57am
Wasnt Vlad one of those that instituted the rule in Lahmia to only feed on criminals?

Empire, dwarves, bretonnia, high elves, lizardmen. Are all factions of "order" but they all have there issues. Especially bretonnia.

Wood elves go out once a year to kill innocent people just for fun. They are like crazy rednecks from some rob zombie movie.

Tomb kings are kind of like the gran torino movie. They just want you to get off there lawn.

Ogre kingdoms are coming in game 3, theyre ok. As long as they have enough food to eat.

I mean even some bad faction leaders have there points. Vlad von carstein is not the worst by any means. Archaon hates chaos so much hes helping them so the world will just blow up.
