How can Malus be a lord?
While he is politically well versed in the intrigues taking place in Hag Graef, Malus is not your typical commander, he would probably hate his own troops as much as he hates everything else.

He spent much of his time alone in the Chaos wastes and survived the ordeal, in battle when he rages he loses all control and just kills indiscriminately, in that state he is a melee beast which very few can hope to best and would probably end up killing some of his own troops.

I can´t see him inspiring any troops nor providing any substantial bonus to an army under his command, from what I have read he is a loner and just hates everyone on various levels.

This is not a critique, he is the only Lord I am actually looking forward to play, will of course try the others as well and might change my mind. Just really can´t see Malus as a leader ... for anyone.

Other than his whole shtick being that he is the toughest and meanest ***hat around, which means, as far as Dark Elves are concerned, he is exactly the sort of leader they ALWAYS have.

Theres a giant demon turkey leading an army why is a demon possed elf a poor choice?

I guess this means you have never read all of the malus darkblade books

He has lead troops in battle several times throughout the books but he is best know for the leading cold one knights calvary

Nope, I havn´t, most of my reading was about his journey in the Chaos wastes. I guess I made too many assumptions, he will still kill indiscriminately under a rage which I don´t believe any other DE lord would do. That probably won´t be included in the campaign though, would be interesting if it did :).

Hellboron and morthai have no compunctions about slaughter when angry or offended. Even malakeith kills with very little provocation

Right out of 8th edition Dark Elf book itself " Darkblade has become legendary in Naggaroth, as a great warrior and a leader whose hatred can overcome any opposition".

Dark Elf politics are a complete summation of "survival of the fittest". Because of their spartan area of living which offers them no respite they've come ton reflect that in their culture. They use political intrigue, assassins, and magic to kill one another till the best rise to the top and become the alpha. Essentially any Dark Elf who manages to survive, rise the ranks, and kill all his competition becomes head honcho. Malus is not an exception, he's more of the same.

This is one of the reasons people were so upset when Malekith was made Phoenix King. He up to that point had demonstrated very little to no High Elven qualities and only Dark Elf qualities. They essentially make him "prison Dark Elf" where they immediately find compassion, fairness, and forgiveness the minute they aren't in the middle of a snow storm.

I can't really see why anyone would argue about Malus being a LL instead of Snikch tbh

Just saw the first video on Malus .... I wasn´t totally wrong.

Malus if in full control of himself gives all his units -10 melee attack but gets substantial campaign buffs.

That is actually in the line of what I was thinking and wrote about.

He also was Malekiths right hand General while invading Ulthuan later, which also brought him fame and admiration. And the gazing eye of the Witchking himself.

Doesn't that seem backwards?

Dark Elf 1: "Hey man, our leader is in full control of himself and is giving orders calmly and rationally"

Dark Elf 2: "Yeah, how boring, I don't wanna fight now."

Dark Elf 1: "Wait, he's now in a killing rampage where he would kill us in a second if we get near him and he wouldn't even't really notice if we left the battle field."

Dark Elf 2: "For the Tyrant of Hag Graef! CHARGE!"

Perhaps hes giving more defensive orders in his normal state.

In dark elf culture that’s how it works

Seeing someone spill blood whips the viciousness of dark elves up and pushes them into a frenzy

Hence the murderous prowess mechanic that greatly buffs de units after a certain number of units are killed
