High Elf Weakness
Does anyone know of a significant weakness of the elves? With the Vampirates coming out I’ve been wondering what a faction needs to bring with them to counter the OP high elves.

High Elves used to lack ap missles but now with Sisters of Avelorn they have longest range and ap damage +fire/magic. You used to be able just wade through their missle volleys if you had decent armour. I agree with others artillery is good vs HE to out range them and get some of their units below 50% health where they lose defense bonus.

Vamp coast seems like a good counter. Lots of AP missile fire, heay hitting long range (mmmhh queen bess), chaff to hold them up and monsters to wreck their faces.

You can thin them out before their archers come into firing range. And then you shoot them with zombies.

And I can only imagine what a bloated corpse can do to swordmasters or phoenix gard :^)

As a long time high elf player one thing the game did well was preserve how horrific fighting skaven with expensive low dualbility troops is. But on the whole high elves are best in field in many ways but expense, low hp and low mid tier options are the main weaknesses.

Silver helms and white lions aren't as good as dark elf mid tier units and lizardmen have far greater durability. To beat high elves you need to break up their armies and disrupt thier co-ordination. Skaven, empire and vampire coast all have good tools to achieve this.

High Elves are weak to fortified Bretonnian wine.

They love the stuff but they're a bunch of lightweights and get smashed off of one cup. Give them a few kegs of wine before a battle and they'll fall over before you even engage them.

Go wtach some youtube Warhammer tactics videos, they'll show you how to deal with different unit types.

If its about MP, HE are riddled with weaknesses. Lack of strong anti-large solutions, excessively expensive, reliant on martial prowess/mastery to survive but its coupled with low hp pools, etc

In campaign thoguh, none of that matters, because campaign is about elite spam, and having some of the best elites in the game, high elves are really well off, though perhaps still not quite on the ludicrous level of some other factions.

In the campaign you could tie up their front line elites with disposable units and hit them with a nuke spella like Purple Sun. You could also use flame breath abilities and such. Their primary weakness is AoE given they have all those frail elves in tight clusters. Once they lose Martial Prowess they become much more manageable. Dragons are of course a concern, but use an armor debuff spell on them and hit them with an Anti-Large elite like the Black Guard and they will go down. Send your character hunters after their mages and things are looking up for you.
