Do the Lizardmen have free will?
I am very new to the Warhammer lore and I was just curious if the Lizardmen have free will or if it's more of a hive mind type thing. And are there females? I know they're bred in a spawning pool but is it like magically created like the Uruk Hai from LOTR or what? Just curious, thank you.

There are no sexes. They have free will, that is bound by their duties, still. I think...That's how I understood the little that I read about them.

Iirc in lore the spawning pools were created by the old ones and cant be recreated.

No sexes. No hive mind, though the Slann have some form of telepathic connection to other slann.

There are no sexes, but they do inherently look male because of what we associate with masculinity. They have free will, but are completely devoted to the plan. Skinks have a much more limited life span in comparsion to the others, but are bright and quick witted. Each caste below the Slaan has their own language. The Skinks have a very normal one that allows them to effectively communicate.

Saraus can be thousands of years old and have free will. But have no real personality or critical thinking outside of military situations. Their language is much more crude and consists of 25 sounds that can be strung together to create military orders and rude gestures. When they're spawned its with innate knowledge and the abilities required to fill their specific role and are born with the troop they'll serve with for the rest of their lives who will have the same skills. Cold One Rider, Temple Guard, etc.

Kroxigors speak an even cruder version of Saruian and though they have free will. Are extremely dim witted, their memory and attention span is a couple seconds. They live to take orders from Skinks and serve as the worker caste. They're also spawned with their Skink handlers. For reference Kroxigors when they enter combat have to have their weapons chained to them. Because after the battle is over, they'll completely forget what they were just doing and drop everything.

Each Lizardman can think for themselves. They are just bred with very limited thinking capability.

With the exception of Skinks.

I legit hope we get an original creation Legendary Lord that is a Kroxigor and a Skink who care deeply for one another and just want to have grand adventures

They already exist as the cutscene characters for the Lizard men's vortex campaign. There's also this guy. http://warhammerfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Nakai I actually think Nakai might have been the FLC lord if they wanted to go with the themed lord thing. Since he's fought against both Pestillens and Luthor Harkon's forces. And originally a Lizardman LL was going to release with the DLC.

They have free will, but they choose to follow their Slann's orders because that's what they were born to do.

I seem to recall that back in the dim and early days of Warhammer, when the Fimir were a thing, when Bretonians all wore powdered wigs, the Elector Counts were septegenerean monsters and the Slann army list had pygmires and amazons in it, Lizardmen were the original inhabitants of the world before the Old Ones rocked up and terraformed it (literally, as it happens) over their heads but I've no idea when that idea was subsumed into 'hey, everyone loves Aztec dinosaurs, right?'

I hate to be that guy, but they're heavily influenced by Mayan culture at the core. With Sotek shaking it up with the Aztec stuff.

I think the Ducky and Spike from Land Before Time are predecessors to “Skinky and Krix’s Grand Adventure.”

The Warhammer version is just less violent

Try to see the lizardman as biological computers.
They are spawned to preform the task they are designed for.
They have free will but not as humans have.

A good example will be the qun from dragon age.
A soldier will always be a soldier.
They can choice what to do inside there role but they can never change there role.
A lizardman is spawned with a certian purpose.
No soulsearching who it wants to be, no feeling of insignificant, etc.

Are they capeable of defying there programming?
That i dont know.
And if they arent do they truly have free will?
Free will is the ability to make choices.
If you cant make a choice is it still free will?

Now look at lizardman spawning pools as factories.
They follow an pre-programed assambiliy line and build workers, soldiers, researcher's, operators, etc.

There is no ego in lizardman sociaty as all where created to serve the great plan.

They're all clones, the spawning pools are pretty much just cloning vats.
And no genders either, they're all adrogynous-masculine leaning.
And they all work for the Slann for the Great Plan, so not really much free will.

They're not clones, that much is obvious, otherwise how would there be unique Lizardmen like Kroq-Gar and Tehenhauin.

And they do have free will, they can go against Slann directive if they think it is a real necessity, such as the Cult of Sotek or Yukkanadoozat.
