Units ignore orders even when spammed
watched kattept melee to death while i spammed clcik run away or like 10 seconds straight good game 10/10

It sometimes happend to me, but I think is because the terrain (they lost the vision from target). BUT in anycase it's just stupid because is like "ey, they dessapear so I'm goping to stop seeking them".

If he's surrounded by enemy units he simply won't be able to pull out. After all, there are people in the way!

the problem seems to be that there is no dedicated "escape" animation.

a character cannot try to remove itself from a melee in either a defensive nor offensive manner.

a character will not try to force its way out of a melee with attacks in a certain direction, it simply attempts to move in the direction of the command, and failing that resumes melee in a static manner( they dont try to move)

it is VERY frustating as when you command a withdraw with units capable, as you are sacrificing any that cannot immediatly pull back.

and if your trying to for other units out of melee, they just do the moonwalk against enemy units while getting obliterated.

If a unit is stuck inside another unit, especially if small and a single model. It's extremely unlikely for them to get away in most cases. Even if they completely listened to your order. Ram an allied unit consisting of multiple models into the attacking enemy unit. As this will allow a safe path for your trapped unit(s) to escape. As they won't have this problem moving through allied units.

What would you prefer they do? Run off in random directions after units they lost track of?

This is what your cavalry or chariots are for. Your monsters and beasts. To get yourself out of a situation, that shouldn't have happened anyways. A mechanic to allow for easier escape via fighting into the specific direction could be something, but I don't know if that might be too heavy on the balance. After all you need to invest resources to surround a lord completely, keeping supporting enemy units completely out of the equation.

Last time i played as lizardmen one of the Saurus Scar Veteran heroes simply refused to back off from fighting some basic melee squad of units (spearmen or something) even though he was not surrounded.

It happens rarely but sometimes lords/heroes do refuse to perform a move command when they are already engaged in melee.

He wasn't surrounded he just refused to turn and run

Admittedly, I'm bad and shouldn't have gotten him in the situation.

Crying coz lost lord to being surrounded.... its called being punished for being bad. Git gud and keeo a bodyguard around.

it would just be nice if they at least didnt forget their orders every 2 seconds, i truly hate having my flying cav disengage but 2 of their models stay locked in combat so the whole unit thats alrdy safely in the air turns around and goes back into the melee, even when i spam order them for a full 20 seconds they kept trying to turn around and go back in, lasted until the 2 models on the ground died, made me wish i had an option to just kill of the models still in combat myself so the rest of the unit wouldnt decide they had to go back and suicide. if you have an army with alot of cav and every few seconds you have to retell them all to break combat because half of them have alrdy started to ignore your orders and ran back into the fight, the game just becomes tedious to play

This is all very true :/ CA should really fix this, even if it means another engine overhaul - this has been a consistent problem since the earliest TW, made worse by flying units that contain only a couple of models (Flock of Djaf are the worst for this)
