At lot of the things you're trying to do can be accomplished by sticking to a mod author, like Sedibee. His stuff will get you a lot of what you're looking for and be compatible with eachother.
What I would highly recommend is trying the Steel*Faith Overhaul. Go through the sub-mods and you can get Cataphs Southern Realms for it, any number of Sedibee adjustments, as well as a whole bunch of the reskins, banners, unit captains and bannermen, and settlement/garrison/wall adjustments. The camera mod is already incorporated, and there are a number of sub mods to adjust difficulty. Unit sizes are balanced and relfected by simply changing your game settings.
You can try some of the landmark or settlement stuff for compatability but you'll probably be very happy with the overhaul and its submods. Improved Loading screen Art and Border Colors should be compatible with anything.
