Is there a DLC buying guide anywhere for the mega campaign?
I read that CA wants to make 3 TWW games with one giant campaign that fuses all the content together.

This just sounds like really cool and I want to participate in it when everything eventually comes out, but there's just so much crap to buy and useless stuff that I don't know where to start.

Right now I just have TWW1 and the chaos armies, I read there's a mode from TWW2 that takes the DLC from the first game.

It's looking to be very expensive so a steam sale seems like a great time to start hoarding content. Any help would be appreciated. :)

if you own tw1 + tw2, you get acces to the mortal empires campaign.

This campaign will have every faction (dlc aswell) you own in it to play, but you need to own the DLC for DLC specific factions if you want to play them in the Mortal Empires campaign

So, buy 1 and 2, look at what faction intrests you outside of the base ones and go from there.

Atleast, this is how I would do it if I didnt allready own everything.

I noticed there's some smaller DLCs like gore and faction leaders or something like that...do those apply to the mortal empires campaign?

yea, everything does.

If you buy blood and gore for 1 you won't have to get it for 2 however.

Look at this way: Every faction or lord pack you buy for game 1 is automatically applied to game 2 game 3 when it comes. The only dlc displayed double is the blood dlc but you only need to buy that once.

Buy what you want to play, ignore the rest. All the DLC is included in the game world to play against, so buy what you want when you want to play it, you're not missing anything in your game if you don't buy any DLC.

Though for the map of the first and second games combined you need to own the first and second game.

Ah I see, so if I get blood for the blood god I get the second one for free.

So there's no "bad" dlc to buy...thanks everybody. :)

I haven't spent a HUGE amount of time playing total warhammer but I just like the idea of playing a giant clusterbuck of all the factions.

Everything you buy from Warhammer 1 carries over into Warhammer 2.

So the Blood DLC carries over; as do all the lord and faction packs that you buy.
The faction packs unlock new factions for you to play as, whlist the lord packs unlock new units and lords to play as for specific factions.

There's also a few free DLC such as the Bretonia which you can "buy" to add to your game as well.

Mortal Empires is the map in Warhammer 2 which unlocks if you own the first game (on the same steam account of course). It then lets you play every faction in the game that you currently own. So buying the DLC factions for the first game will unlock them on the Mortal Empires map in the second game.

The Warhammer TW 2 faction DLC (Tomb Kings) unlocks both on the Mortal Empires map and on the Vortex Map which is the campaign bundled with Warhammer 2 and only features Warhammer 2 factions and lords to play as (though several factions from the first game still appear as opponents).

Note the Mortal Empires map features all the factions even if you don't own them, however you can only choose to play as those factions which you do own the DLC for.

Thank you, that last bit is very helpful.

I don't think I'll end up playing all the factions, so just having them around is good enough for me.

Do the tomb kings appear in the mortal empires campaign if you dont own it?

Well here's my guide:

The games - WH1 and WH2. Together they get you nine playable factions (including Bretonnia FLC) and three campaign types (including Mortal Empires, the main game mode with the massive combined map). These are the first things to get, absolutely essential.

Faction packs. All factions are in game as AI whether you buy the DLC or not, the pack just makes them playable. Available packs are Warriors of Chaos, Beastmen, Wood Elves, Norsca, Tomb Kings. If you like one of these factions, get the pack, otherwise can be ignored.

Lord packs. Each gives you additional lords, sub-factions and units for 'arch enemies' playable in the base game. There are three packs: Empire+Greenskins, Dwarfs+Vampire Counts, High Elves+Dark Elves. Again, if you like one of these factions, get the pack, otherwise can be ignored.

Blood for the Blood God. A cheap cosmetic change, completely optional.

All dlc factions will appear in a new campaign after they're releasd wether you own them or not. They only difference after buying them ist that you can now play them yourself. That's why you will always encounter beastmen, chaos, tomb kings, wood elves and norsca wether you bought them or not.

It's also a nice way to judge which faction maybe something for you since you will battle them on some point for sure.

Also - as has been written above - don't forget to 'buy' the flc, that won't happen automatically. Just press download on the store page once and it will be connected to your 2 main games.

He's right. If you like the game, it's really months worth of content. Mortal empires is a really huge campaign.
