Or my favourite is ambush mode. Have your 20/20 stack in ambush and bring a lord all by himself with no troops to act as bait. Usually entices most armies to leave their town to attack him.
What I like to do is place a strong army in ambush and a weaker army behind it. If the ambush isn't foiled the AI should march out to attack the smaller stack and get ambushed. This can be risky if the ambush gets spotted. Also, try to keep the smaller stack in reinforcement range.
You can also use lightning strike if you have a lord with that ability.
