How does sea battles work...?
Been playing this game for awhile now, and can't figure out how the sea battles work. I tried large number Skaven armies at sea no go. Giant monters from the Tomb Kings and Lizardmen, waste of time, and money cause they are at the bottom of the sea now. Is it just High Elves win no matter what?! If so why do the Servants of Choas army beat my High Elf armies at sea NO MATTER WHAT!? What gives?

I've tried googling, binging, AJ, *Insert outdated serach engine here*. No answer, and there has to be one.... Shouldn't there be?

I usually just send one lord by himself to go hunting for treasure. That way if he dies it's no biggie.

All sea battles are auto-resolve, and auto-resolve is terrible. Fight your battles on land where you can actually control your army.

The only thing a read is, CA doesn't have rights to Man-o-war, so sea battles won't happen till then... It's a shame, at least allow us to build rock, Iron ships (Rock, paper Scissors, just one ship is more expensive and better then the other, IE Total War: Medieval 2). It'd be WAY better then how it is! Even if it's just Galley, Galleon.

the rights thing is a myth.

Yeah I'm sure I've seen an official statement that the rights thing isn't the issue.

It's just being someone the High Elves hate, and having to sail around their Island continent is a nightmare. Unless you're an AI Chaos Army floating in bone and skull boats... And with Mortal Empires and the TK's VP Campaign, you have to sail your armies there or around... At least TKs aren't hurt to badly from a sunken army, still a ball ache and 10 turns to re-recruit.

Yepp.

They just wanted to focus on land battles because that's also what WHF is about.

Sea battles would add rather little but would take serious additional funds to implement in a coherent, fun and interesting way.

Sure they could be fun, but personally I hated them. Could play them in Shogun as well as in Rome and while I loved landbattles, their equivalent on sea was just a huge ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for me.

Though I kinda liked the landing of troops from sea in city battles in Rome, that was kinda cool tbh.

I mean just adding the ability to build escort ships to increase your embarked armies chance of surviving a sea voyage would be better and more realistic(Hate to be the guy to say realistic) to escort your troops? ANd not an actually sea battle maybe just a dice roll, but askewed towards the person with more ships in the area. So 10 Galleys vs 1 Galley would get a plus 9? And you can automate that! Like Medieval II.
