Lizardmen coexisting with original Tomb Kings?
Is there any lore surrounding the relationship between the two factions throughout history?

Inasfar as I know, no there is not, Tomb Kings (prior to becoming skeletons) did become friends with High Elves (There are even ancient murals depicting High Elves and ancient Nerekharans fighting side by side), but even how the lores of magic of Tomb Kings work is supposedly through their gods, as opposed to the High magic Stylings of the High Elves or Lizardmen that wield the geomantic web and the winds of magic.

It's likely both existed at the same time, but the Lizardmen, correclty, viewed the older High Elves as a more efficient hammer to use against the chaos incursions and etc etc, or viewed the positioning of the Tomb Kings as making them irrelevant -overall- to needing their contacting, as any chaos incursions coming through them would have to arrive from across an ocean first, meaning a -bit- less of the horror of having infinite platemail legions coming their way, or etc.

If anyone knows anything contradictory, I would be happy to hear it.

In the first/second Nagash books from the Time of Legends series (I think), they did talk about some of that stuff. Ka-Sabar in the south mostly fought the lizards I think, and Rasettra in the east fought them, but their king also had lizardmen mercenaries in his armies against Nagash.

One of the advantages that relations between the two races had was geography. The TK lived in the desert (which the Lizards don't like) while the Lizard Men lived in the jungle (which the TK COULD live in but would be terrible for fighting in based on chariot tactics and missile fire). So it's not like they'd be fighting over the same land or anything.

The biggest drawback is the Great Plan. Like the Eldar of 40K, the Slaan are privy to information that nobody else is. They can see into the future, predict that the Empire or Chaos would stomp in 20 years from now and steal the BIG MAGIC THING (tm). As a result, they might stage an attack to steal it themselves or else stages a decade of raids to prompt the TK to reinforce that area.

Being allied to a race that can see the future and to whom all else is secondary to The Great Plan would suck.

According to the Lore, the Lizardmen are in fact the oldest and most ancient race, pre-dating elves, dwarves, humans, greenskins and trolls. (a clever mirror of our world, I.E. Dinosaurs comming before humans) They were created by ancient extra-terrestrials known as the old ones, to be servants and help them shape the world as well as bring and maintain order. The ancient ones later created Humans, Trolls, Elves and Dwarves, and it is believed that the greenskins evolved from some fungus that had hitched a ride on their spaceship. They had some "great plan" that literally NOBODY knows except the Slann Mage-Priests, and that is basically the motivation for every single thing the lizardmen do. It is also why the lizardmen hate the undead and greenskins, as they were not intended to exsist by the old ones.

You can get a much better explaination of the lizardmen origins here^ but to keep a long story short on this thread, the Lizardmen have existed at the same time as every other race on the planet.

I don't think Slanns know exactly what the Great Plan was about. First generation Slanns, which directly communicated with the Old Ones and knew a lot about them, are all dead or escaped the planet when chaos invaded, and those left had their memories and mental acuity forever diminished as a result of millenia spent tapping in magic energies that were chaos-tainted.

That's the main reason they spend so much time in their sleep, they need maximum focus to even remember or accomplish things that were considered simple tasks at the time of the Old Ones. Like knowing basic math and trying to understand a complex astrophysical formula.

Don't be. There's nothing wrong with necroing threads when the subject is still relevant, so long as you aren't just being a troll. Except of course, you might have to deal with being admonished by one of the sub-adults (or maybe-bots) Valve has mindlessly locking old threads "because old."

Especially when that plan is Tzeentch's.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
