Campaign difficulty modifiers
Hi I'm new to this game TW2, but not new to the series as I have played quite a bit in TW1. I have been trying to find some data about the difficulty modifiers on campaign for AI particularly normal vs hard difficulty.

Does anyone have any data that can be shared on it please? Thank you so very much! :)

Also share your recommendations which difficulty would be better for someone experienced in the franchise too...

Easy ai gets less reqruitment, focus on other ai before the player, less income ,public order is laughable ai units stats get reduced.

Normal: ai gets minnor bonus to stats and income and will target everyone equaly, same public order as bonus you.

Hard: ai will focus on player first and gets a small increase into unit stats, income, reqruitment slots and public order.

Very hard: same as hard but more.

Legendry:
Ai will focus on the player unless he is there ally, will hate you just for existing, has massive requitment, income and public order.
And your public order will be debuffed to the point you will have revolts no mather how much public order buildings you have(honestly your better of keeping armies to put them down)

To give you an example:
I was playing wood elves on legendry.
I had every old world army constantly moving through my forest.
You would think the empire and vampire counts would be busy killing eatchother.
Likewise every army i killed was back the next turn.

Playing on legendery turns the game into a test of enduriance.
The ai isnt smarter.
It just tries you to rage quit.
On the pluss side you ai allies are accauly usefull.

General speaking i suggest playing normal if you want to have fun.
I would getting mods that remove the cheats(pity middos no longer update its mods)
The best time i had playing this game was when i was able to play without cheats.
Even normal has some cheats.
Just the least amount.

I don't know the exact modifers but I'm sure you could have answered that question for yourself on google pretty easily.

As for suggesting a difficulty for someone who is experienced; very hard or legendary.

I like very hard campaign but normal battle. I hate the leadership buff for ai in battles that make even trash units take forever to route. I often find myself autoresolving even 60/40 battles when I'm playing very hard battle difficulty. AI will still have more stacks due to campaign buffs.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Haha thanks. I tried googling but I only can some hints, nothing too clear or solid.

Yeah, not planning to go on to legendary. What's the point of diplomacy etc in that case, when everyone is literally targeting you? Lol.

Guess I will either start at Hard or Medium. From what I recall in TW1, hard was basically what I used to play on campaign difficulty and was quite ok, a bit of challenge but nothing too hard or too easy. Normal was much easier especially during mid-late game which makes playing the game literally pointless, because no one wants to go to war with you lol.

I play on legendary and very hard, depending on my mood. I always beat the games on legendary at least once. The person who suggested that the AI just targets the player over anyone else everytime on legendary is full of ♥♥♥♥.

Go for Hard, i find it the most balanced. The difference between normal and hard is almost nothing. You'll notice a public order difference but that's probably it. I would also suggest getting the 'no extra upkeep' mod. Extra upkeep is such a bad design for a Total war game and completely ruin the possibility with some races.

If there is no difference between hard and normal then why bother playing hard? You either want somewhat of a challenge or you don't.

What you are suggesting is that he remove extra upkeep and then play on an easier diffculty.... why? As it is no matter what race a player is using they will get to a point where they can't lose, and most players will stop playing because it gets boring, especially on ME. Why would you want to hasten that?

Very hard and legendary are the only way to play.

Agreed, sometimes, in TW1 when playing at normal, I just give up playing on some games because I had already conquered like 3/4 of the map and it just seems pointless to continue on finishing whatever objectives there are to get the end game victory button.

I don't know about upkeep, but I have never ran into an "upkeep problem" before, honestly. I mean if you wanna field bigger armies, it's obvious you will need to expand your territory as well.
