high elves get EZ ulthuan confederations, and lizardmen saurus warriors are tier 2 infantry that remain relevant forever, and all their heroes can get mounted on huge dinos which means you aren't taking an effectiveness hit for putting a hero in your army.
real talk though i find any of the TW WH 1 factionns to be pretty hard. just because there's so many sides you can get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ from. on the western side of the map it's pretty simple. as lizards bad guys are just north and south, dark elves is south, high elves is north and west.
it's not like some of the warhammer 1 faction starts where all your towns are miles away from each other and enemies are everywhere.
From a starting position, Morathi might be in a tough spot, as is Kathep, or Tretch. Teclis also has to deal with some stuff until he can get hings rolling
From a "unfun" perspective, I can think of several, all of this games factions snowball out of control rather quickly, and some are incredibly dull even to begin with, like Kroq Gar for example.
Been forcing myself to do Kroq Gar campaign till the end over half a year now LOL. Never got the nerve to manage Belagar or Skarsnik till the end, they're realy hardcore.
Skarsnik is ok if you use CheatEngine to take Eight Peaks right away.
So yeah, Skarsnik and Woodelves are the hardest.
Seconding that, my hardest i've tried lately was Brettonia. They seem to really struggle right now. I had trouble breaking out of my first region and i've played a lot of this. Then on top of that, Empire and Marienburg wiped out Fay Enchantress before I could even confederate, by like turn 5-10. So thats a loss of 1 legendary lord real early.
Either you swarm your hariy small ass on the enemys... or you get a hard fight everytime, because your units feel rather weak compared to the rest....
With Faction unlocker there are lots of hard starts :D
