Dwellers Below is a huge force multiplier. You'll almost always count on being able to have an enemy artillery or ranged unit tied up when you most need it. Your magic is good, your artillery is good, and you have both Underway AND excellent ambush chance which gives an enormous amount of strategic edge if you play it right.
But early on they are tough and hard to play but once you get their war beasts, tech, range units and ambus people not much can stand in your way.
The joke is they are rats and pretty close to the animals they are based on
Skaven are a bit of a comic faction, they can die in hilarious ways, sabatage eatchother, seems most of their plans to create something that cause mass destruction go instantly wrong, but they are also a serious threat when you look past that and see the swarm of 10,000 ratmen about to charge you.
The main joke people have about them is that "they don't exist", which is what the Empire of man keeps telling themselves to keep their population calm, funny how they are are accepting of the Orcs, Beastmen, and Chaos trying to destroy them but when Skaven are mentioned "Silence Heritic, they don't exist!". Months back if you can remember, after the announcement trailer for II, people used this joke alot when the trailer only showed the rat at the end and not the Skaven themselves. Anyone who didn't use Total War Access and the Tablet thought the Skaven where unconfirmed, and some thought the 4th race was something else like Tomb Kings (that did become a dlc but wasn't the 4th race). That joke lasted about 4 months up till the Skaven trailer, and personally it drove me crazy.
Ingame, Skaven have low health, morale, and armor compaired to other races, but they make up for it in numbers, and haveing the neatest toys, they are by no means weak when used right, but might be harder to play if you are unfamiliar.
To be simple.. They are ratmen who talk funny and schemes and backstabs their way through the life. They also have some cool mad scientists with them inventing war machines and stuff. They would've probably taken over the world if it wasnt for their constant infighting.
you confuse this with the vampires
Skavens are one of the real reasons the old world got destroyed. They played a huge role on it. They brought extinction to the lizardmen and infected all human lands with such numbers they were an extinction level event, and that helped Archaon quite a lot in destroying the world. They act funny in the game but they're a plague not to underestimate.
This is also true, they did alot of irreversible damage, as comical as they appear they are one of the greatest dangers in the Warhammer Fantasy world.
