Mods will reinstall when you reinstall the game.
Saves can be dragged out of... oh... well, just google "<name of total war> save file location and back them all up to somewhere like Desktop.
Then you can reinstall fine!
The solution an awesome user came up with was to copy over rome 2s launcher-files. Dont know if it works for Warhammer.

Neither Warhammer 1 or 2 have run at all on my laptop, on which they had been installed and working fine from launch, crashing directly after the launcher since the weekend of December 9-10th (though oddly enough Warhammer 2 will run once in every handful times I try it, seemingly at random... not reliably enough to get on with it though)
The curse spread temporarily to Warhammer 2 on my higher specced desktop the same week btw, though that game would run albeit with near seizure inducing bugs and flicker... before righting itself several weeks later isolated from any attempts to fix it (2 weeks after the last try)
Unfortunately for me my laptop is my more used PC by necessity.
Btw, Rome 2 and Attila were running ok on both PC's last I tried them a few weeks ago.
As for the fixes I've tried... I chased solutions for 2 weeks; from the usual go-to fixes to forum suggestions, short of replacing hardware, so literally everything within reason. It's not my hardware at fault as everything else runs ok, nor Windows 10 updates and mods, said to be the most likely culprits (I haven't used mods for either Warhammer and only have Win 10 on the desktop which is now fine)
Anyway, all to no avail...
I fear that those of you with this issue or anything like it are unfortunately stuck for the time being, certainly if you've tried what I have with no success.
I don't know what your specs and setups are but it doesn't matter from what I've seen.
Basically, the problem is the game(s), simple as... and so is up to CA to fix it.
Unfortunately, they've been busy bringing out more DLC (that added more bugs), retracing their steps with Norsca to get them into ME, and spreading their resources thinner to make more games (and more money)
PS: If any of you do hit upon something that works, share the knowledge eh?
Doing something at least would be an idea though reviews probably won't get CA's attention... though it would get the attention of all the buggy game naysayers (the folks who either can't bear to see CA given justified criticism and/or deny there being any issues/cause for discontent)
A blitz of the CA/TW forums directly or a petition might do more...
As it is I've passed on getting Tomb Kings, the first DLC I've missed, on the grounds that spending cash on a game that won't work is dumb (and I've had every single TW game and DLC from the first)
I may still get ToB aso in future but not on preorder and moreso only once I know the game(s) are very stable and don't cheat on the requirements (cos even if Warhammer 2 ran it'd still be unoptimised)
If it does not fix the issue you may also want to try following these instructions- (But keep the Microsoft Visual 2015)

Aha, a possible solution.
Well done you for questing onwards to find a way. Whether it works or not, I'll try it out as soon as I am able and report back.
Either way thanks for letting us know.
Previous to trying this, i uninstalled vcredist 2017 and rolled back to 2015, also i did what this post suggested but my game wasn't working.
I had the beta launcher active, so what i did then was i rolled back to the "original" launcher and tried to open the game. After 15 the game launched and it seems to be working fine now.
