SFO Chaos Warp Portal
So, as you know there is this Chaos Portal which allows you to recruit some hero as chaos in a Chaos Fortress. I am playing on legendary and I am having a good run, considering I vassalized the Counts, Har Garnet, Clan Moulder and Norsa and basically owning the entire north half of the map. Since I cannot save and test it, I was wondering: do the -500 diplomacy penalty also apply to vassals when I start building the Portal and does the effect stay once I finish the tier 5 portal?
I really don't want to lose my vassals because they all go down to -200 relations.

you can backup your current autosave, do the thing and if you don't like it - put the autosave file back where you took it.

I try not to save scam during my legendary campaigns. It kind of defeats the purpose of playing on legendary.

I can tell you two things. One, the portal increases your relationship with Norsca and beastmen. Will it degrade your vassals like vamp counts and such? probably. Two, the penalty doesn't remain once the portal is finished. I.E second tier.
But that is 25 turns.
I can't say which is MORE valuable, vassals (that may turn on you anyways, unless you are using one of the mods that won't let them lol) or that hero. The hero has nice debuffs for enemy armies, but wasn't an incredibly strong hero - not weak by any means, but was definitely squishy.

One thing I can tell you is that it hardly matters. If there is no one around who can logically secede your vassals from you, then it doesn’t really do anything. Once you unite all the tribes under you including Norsca, because of their aversion you’re usually pretty safe against anyone confederating them. In one of my ME campaigns I vassalized Norsca after a long war and for about 15 turns my relations with them were in the negative. Nothing happened at all. If there is no one for them to run too, they’ll almost never secede even if they’re stronger than you.

Well, I get 500+ with Norscan and Beastman factions. What I worry about are the VC and Har Garnet. Hellebrone has confederated with Malekith and Morathi earlier, meaning Har Garneth is so powerful that they currently beat up Ulthuan by themselves.

That’s a bit tricky then. Honestly, I kinda try to avoid vassalizing any of the Dark Elves because it’s just a wild goose chase. They’ll constantly try to confederate your vassals and it goes back and forth. Nothing but destruction for them in my campaigns usually or I just leave them alone. Not to mention that the Frozen City is free real estate. As for VC, just get rid of the other vampires in that region and you should be golden.

I would check first to see if the relations are actually changed by it and if they are, maybe report it on their forum or Discord. SFO’s Discord usually provides more help, so I would ask there.
