Sword of Khaine: Where do I see global debuffs?
Just picked it up as Empire, but I don't see the global effects? And how do I put it down when I don't want it any more?

There should be a panel near the middle top of the screen, where the ritual progress bar is for the four sequel factions, where all global effects are listed with icons.

However, the Sword of Khaine is currently bugged: if you confederate a faction that has the sword, the factionwide debuff won't affect you but you'll still have the weapon.

Furthermore, there should be a dilemma screen that appears at certain milestones which will prompt you to either keep the sword and power it up along with the debuffs, or to discard it and return it to the Shrine of Khaine.

I couldn't find this panel. Does this panel only appear if you are one of the TW2 factions?

Anyways, I clicked on the main faction icon on the top right (the furthest to the right), and then I was able to go into the faction buffs/debuffs overall and find it there.

It's fairly inconvenient as I am lazy, and it requires two clicks (three, since I then have to click out of the faction screen, LOL!).

Now I am wondering if it's worth keeping: -10 percent upkeep, -8 happiness, and -40 diplomatic relations are all frankly quite massive...

...honestly, I don't actually know. I haven't tried the Mortal Empires campaign yet.

At least you found it eventually. That's good.

That is true. However, it is the weapon of a god and makes anyone who carries it into an unstoppable army-killing doomsday device. It's a tradeoff: one lord becomes nearly invincible, and the rest of your empire starts to disintegrate.

In the center, top of the screen are tiny icons about what effects are currently going on. They are the farthest things on the right of the center-top display.

The de-buffs aren't too bad if you have already built up your empire well, though the de-buffs do get worse. It is worth it - the sword makes your lord pretty much unbeatable.

You get chances every so many turns to put the sword down. I put it down after the second chance to do so, which gives me plenty of time to kick butt. By then, the debuffs get scary and I don't know when I'll get my next chance. Here's my solution - just have a new lord/army ready to pick it up, and keep building new armies near the pick-up site.

The previous poster is right about the bug - confederate someone with the sword and you get the power without the debuffs.

Good luck!

True, true! ;)

So how do you use it? I am going to try to keep it as Empire and see what happens. I have either +300 or -300 with most factions currently (around 150 turns), so -40 won't make a difference either way - as there are no "in-between" factions. You either love me or hate me ;)

And I figure I could get rid of some economy or military buildings to get the happiness buildings up. (Upkeep is currently less of an issue, unless I get invaded on multiple fronts.)

How to use it? I really don't know, as I haven't been able to get my hands on it yet. Just... give it to whomever is leading your assault army and have them wreck everything, I guess?

I meant if you try to keep it permanently or throw it away after a while or not pick it up at all! ;)

Like I said, I haven't had the ability to get it yet, so I don't know.

If you control the Shrine of Khaine you should have the option to stash it there to get rid of the global debuffs. I used it till I think the 2nd level of debuff, was something like -20 public order and a huge diplomatic penalty. Haven't used it since so not sure if the debuff restarts at the lowest level the next time you pick it up.

Even at the 2nd level it was game-breaking powerful. It's like the nuclear bomb of warhammer world lol. The ai will send stacks to Shrine of Khaine to take it if you stash it there so be prepared to defend it because you seriously do not want to fight anyone using this weapon.

Considering the lore, thats pretty much spot on to say.

It's really not that bad though. Sure, said lord becomes really powerful in melee, but he's still just one guy. Yeah, he can kill 200 people no problem, but it takes him forever with the slow animations, and a large group of archers or huge beasts are still really effective against lords bogged down by fodder.

Just don't expect to beat him/her with a goblin/marauder/spearmen/fodder spam.

SoK gives them a nice vortex spell though, which is good against that sword of stuff?

Oh, and the sword is only good in melee.... 25% Ward Save can be more or less ignored when you start focus-firing someone down with lazer lizards....
