Followers of Nagash - Literally Impossible To Win?
As the Followers of Nagash, you're automatically locked into permament war with Settra. Regardless of your initial moves, you come into conflict with Settra, who is always at -least- level 30 at a time when your own leader is level 10 or 12.

Has anyone beaten Followers of Nagash? If so...how? It feels impossible to me.

Literally just did today, although I did it on the Vortex map, not ME, which are you trying it on?

Being at war with Settra is annoying but there's a few things you can do. Tomb Kings seem to go through waves of turtling then mass expansion, then turtling/consolidating to expanding again. You don't have to rush though since you don't pay upkeep which is great.

I leveled Arkhan and his heroes up by beating up Bretonnians as much as possible, and putting walls on things is always a big priority once you take them.
Along with that, having an army to sit back in your captial/main province to guard it at all times from sneaky flanking attacks by Settra's lot is also super handy.

One of the things I also did was, since we were both hitting Settra, I made friends with the Top Knots and encouraged them to make life difficult for him which kept him busy while I took land from the Bretonnians and Empire lot.

If you can keep the other Tomb Kings off your back and wipe out those smaller nations (sometimes it's even wiser to raze territory rather than try and hold it), building up the amount of armies you can field and your protections; it puts you in good stead to go and take on Settra.

From there it's either a matter of fighting his isolated armies (keeping yours in at least pairs or maybe a blob), or taking Khemri from him if he's off distracted. Using agents helps too, keeping Settra or a powerful army pinned down somewhere with block is super handy.

It's all very doable, and if you level Arkhan you get some nifty abiilites and his magic lets him decimate units pretty effectively on his own.

Just be prepared and keep an eye out for invading armies of Settra, if you need to pull back and turtle up it's fine, you're not under the same pressures as other races.
Hold your defences, raze and sack near settlements for income and leveling lords and when settra gets greedy and goes to war with other factions, use openings to attack

Get chariots! Abuse ambush stance! Slow down your pace and upgrade your tech until you got anti-large unit. Use two army to defeat Setra until you defeat the sphinx it will be easy.

During in battle I totally avoid Setra, I use my cheaper units to slow him down. Until he is weaken I will use my tomb prince. Remember to turn off guard mode so that those unit will chase Setra.

Remember to upgrade your infantry line skill first usually Tomb kings Ai also upgrade their own infantry.

Sepulchral Stalkers are the best anti-large unit for Tomb Kings. Put them in melee mode they could easily destroy Ushabti summons in your rear.

Settra rushes me about 40 turns in. By that point, I've not been able to get any higher tier units thanks to being locked in a war with the nearby bretonnians.

Settra brings in two mid-tier armies. Just one of them wipes two of my armies but I basically wipe his, then the second one comes in and cleans up all my settlements.

Quite frankly, followers of nagash is a BS faction to play.

This was all on normal difficulty btw

i see settra mostly far too much under pressure to "rush" you. and he was far from that strong when i played followers of nagash on legendary/vh. he even signed treaties with me lmfao - he hates the brettonians, and they are your best earlygame farm.

so build up power, and when u have the brettonian and dwarven lands around, u just go closer and closer to him, by the time u actually fight him u can have yet 5+ armies. he usually gets destroyed from any other faction he starts war with, be it clan mors or grimgor.

Followers of Nagash is even more of a waiting game than tomb kings in general. Waiting for your second army unlock lets you double team the bretonnian armies to the north. I'm sure you can beat them without two armies, but that seems like a hassle.

If you're having trouble with them, you can set ambush traps or corner camp the maps. Getting a casket of souls early on is pretty important too, so try to limit spending a ton of money on buildings unless you actually need them long term.

I don't think Settra has ever really been a problem when I've done Arkhan, but by turn 40 you should have 2 armies and be almost done with a third.

this. tbh i need to do this more in my very hard campigns. im playing to many factions that dont work like that now sadly.

edit in screw reponse. that faction actually needs the replishment for wining but nooo you gotta be all crusade this and crusade that and kill everything less you get negetive prestige. against the undead. i 110% get why people complain about her campaign.
