Start Position for Chaos Dwarfs/Legendary Lords
Hello all, bit of early speculation, I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to the other start position for Chaos dwarfs outside of their capital(Zharr-Naggrund) and which 2 characters will be probable Legendary Lords for the faction?

If you go back to fifth ed. you have Zhatan the Black, Commander of the Towet of Zharr, and Astragoth, High Priest of Hashut. Both would logically start in Zharr-Naggrund but Zhatan is engaged in regular slaving raids to the World’s Edge Mts to the west, so could start there instead.

Gorduz Backstabber is the third named lord in 5th ed, a hobgoblin. I'm not sure about startpos but would guess among the hobgoblin slavemasters in the quarries of the Vale of Woe to the east.

So my best guess would be the above four as LLs (including DLC/FLC), with startpos in Zharr-Naggrund and south, west and east of there.

Less likely options from the wider lore include Rykarth the Unbreakable. Again, Zharr-Naggrund would be most logical, but he's been involved in campaigns in the World’s Edge Mts so could start there instead. Ghorth the Cruel is considered the second most powerful sorcerer after Astragoth, and seems to be another Zharr-Naggrund homebody. In theory you could have the hobgoblin khan himself as an alternative hobgoblin LL to Gorduz, though it's unclear if the WH3 map would stretch that far east.

You're usually better off wandering to Reddit and the offical TW forums for that kind of stuff (actually wait is anyone 'better off wandering to Reddit?'); in the Steam forums we tend to discuss the game, less so the upcoming features.

I know nothing about WH lore apart from what WH2TW has taught me so I can't add anything constructive to the topic :P

Additonally Chaos Dwarfs, more than anyone else except possibly Kislev, are indeterminate. Their rules and minis from 8th ed were... semi-official? Their old style from 5th ed was... partially over-ridden?

I can see one guy (possibly Astrogoth the Sorcerer) starying in Zharr-Naggarund itself, while another starts a ways south, more central to the Dark Lands. Given the usual pattern, this second LL would be a melee specialist, but it's been too long since I saw the Dawi Zharr to speculate further.

I just want earthshaker cannon....

Really want those metal minotaurs that breath fire.

The Black Fortress could be a possible start location for Drazhoath the Ashen as a LL.

Theres also the Tower of Gorgoth and Uzkulak but im not sure who would start there.

Theres plenty of area for them to start in tbh the dark lands are massive.

Astragoth Ironhand for a sorcerer lord in zhar naggarund

Drazhoath in the black fortress to the south east

Could have zhatan the black on slave collecting escapades in most places

Could also pop in Rykarth further north than the main city to represent the parlay with chaos for supplies

True, but they are also one of those races that a good chunk of the playerbase (TT and videogames) love to death. They went through ups and downs, redesigns, but they were very much a main-ish army up to Age of Spacemar and not including them in the complete trilogy would be a huge disappointment, probably causing civil unrest and market instability for years to come.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
