All subscribed mods not working in game
Hi, am hoping I can find some help on this.

Haven't played in a few months, and when I first tried to play the game yesterday it kept crashing. So I unsubscribed from all my mods and uninstalled, then reinstalled the game.

Game works fine now, but no mods work. Only subscribed to a few, and tried playing with one simple mod to see if they're working, but it doesn't. No combination of mods work, so I don't think it's a mod issue.

Have tried unsubscribing, resubscribing from my mods, but still don't work. After you hit 'play,' on the warning screen that pops up, it shows the mods, but they don't work in-game.

I guess I could just play the game on vanilla, but there are a ton of mods that I love and miss.

Is there some sort of option for turning mods on/off? If so, where is it, so I can turn them on?

Once the total war launcher opens wait a moment and you'll see a menu called mod manager hit that then see if your mods are selected

Yep, mods are selected, and when I hit play, I see that according to the next window they are enabled. But they are not working in the game.

Wrote to SEGA customer support for help. They are worthless. Wrote back and said I should contact the modders, that it's not a game problem. When all mods don't work, would say it's a game problem. Mods work for Warhammer I, but not II. Can't figure it out.

lolol you contacted the game support for mods ><

as if their gong to support /troubleshoot issues with 3rd party mods

is your data folder read/only or some ♥♥♥♥ ?
are the mods showing up in data folder ?
have you wiped everymod from there and re-add them 1 by 1 ?

Yeah, but if the game is designed to add mods. And if all of them don't work, why wouldn't they offer support? Something inside the game is not allowing them to load, even when they're selected and enabled.

Yes, when I right click on the data folder properties, the read only box is checked, but it's the same for all of the data folders for my Total War games, and their mods work fine.

Yes, mods show up in data folder. Can see the PNG and PACK files.

Yep, wiped every mod. Unsubscribed all mods, made sure they're no longer in data folder, and then resubscribed to 4 simple mods to see if they're working in-game. They're not.

Also cleared cache. Checked file integrity. Updated drivers. Even made sure windows is updated.

Don't know what else to do.

Okay, I found a fix. Downloaded Kaedrin's mod manager from the Total War forums. For some insane reason, mods work when I launch the game through this program.

If other's are having similar problems, you can find Kaedrin's mod launcher here:

Is there a Mac version for Kaedrin's mod launcher?

Mods are no longer saved in the data folder.
Each one gets to have its own folder in the steam folder / content

I'm having the same problem and just opened your thread to read about it. Gonna try this out now. Nobody should have trouble for applying mods in a game like Total War

@Stanley,
You're telling me we have to move each individual mod from the content folder to the data folder? I haven't played TW WH in a few months.

No its automatic. The game knows where to look for each mod. Unless of course its a mod created by yourself and that and only that is saved on data folder

Thank you for your quick reply Stanley. I'm currently playing Warhammer 1 and it works with SFO but when I pair it with other mods like certain reskins, GCCM, better campaign map, and many others it won't launch the game to the main menu. Instead it launches but then sends me to desktop. I had these mods before and it worked perfectly but now it doesn't, can this be that these mods are out of date and are conflicting with the game? Thank you

Yes. Or simply incompatible together now.

I see... Thank you.

Some of the mods are updated to the beta patch. Some aren’t. Check in the individual mod pages and see if you’ve got the right version of the game.
