Lizardmen Skink help?
What's the point of them? http://in singleplayer, that is

Take Chameleon Skinks. They get run down by cavalry and can't outrun monsters. They're also downright sucky in sieges.

I could get three Chameleon Skinks... or I could fill up those three slots with three Lazer Lizards (Bastilodon (Solar Engine)). Those guys snipe lords, resist cav chargers, and maul monsters.

I just don't see why you'd bother using a unit slot in your doomstack with them.

Okay, so how about the earlygame then?

Skink Skirmishers, a decent unit, still get munched by Skaven Skirm Spam or any form of Chaos units. Or those Savage Ork Boar Boyz.

Meanwhile Saurus Warriors perform better against Skirm Spam, due to much higher HP, can trade admirably in a fight with Chaos, and while they do get a bit hammered by cav charges they'll beat them up in melee.

I just can't find a use for Lizardmen skirmishers! Any unit is preferable to them, even Terradons - because Terradons can melee siege equipment to at the least keep them occupied and stop them from firing.

Cohorts have shields and numbers making them good vs missiles. They get to sides and rear easy and once there cam throw a couple harrassing shots.

or I could just throw some Saurus at them, given they're both from a T1 building.

Saurus are perfectly capable of delivering a nice flanking charge. Much more devastating than a couple of javelins, too.

You are comparing them to units far better than them. That's great if you have the cash for thay much upkeep.
If you have that much why ask about a tier 1 unit?

Saurus are slow.

Wtf? Chameleons are monster killers. Their poison slows the enemy so they can never be caught

most early units are worse than i think they sould be, skaven slaves will run before half of them are dead lizardmen skinks will die and run, ranged skinks do almost no damage when they decide to start throwing things, atleast zombies bog the enemy down but i would rather have skelies
most of the other tier 1 units i wont use but i get tempted with freemen malitia and miners

you're way better off spending the money on saurus my small garisons (2 saurus, 3 skinks) have killed 2x thier numbers just with the saurus alone

Theyre auxilliries... the goblin to Saurous's orc.

They are meh... i never used them id rather take 1 extra saurus over 2 skinks they juat dont do the damage id rather full on bull charge the enemy than play kite wars with skinks. Saurus heal fast tok after battle ao youre good to go pretty fast.

1st of all, I assume you're talking about campaign, and not QM, because in QM, chameleon skinks are basically a must pick, and it's rare that you'll see a lizardmen build that doesn't include at least a few normal/javelin skinks, only the skink skirmishers are unloved, because they suck.

2nd in campaign skinks are filler units and early game flankers. They're dirt cheap and unlike saurus warriors they can catch foot skirmishers with ease. Furthermore, the ones with javelins can be used to help zone off lower tier skirmishers like marauder horsemen, pistoliers, skaven slingers etc, or to focus fire monstrous units like rat ogres that would otherwise prove a bit of a challenge to your saurus warriors. Skink skirmishers and chameleon skinks are honestly pretty trashy in campaign, since you're better off bringing cav/monsters to counter enemy skirmishers. I wouldn't recommend them, though I would consider them more useful than terradons, who do practically no damage and are basically potato tier in all ways.
Thanks for that! I see they're cheap, low-quality units and Saurus are preferable in almost any way.

Chameleons get run down by cav and monsters, so I don't find them useful - in addition, while Saurus have no Large bonus they do deal sizeable damage to even anti-infantry monsters.

In SFO they are hella fast and can snipe lords

But Saurus can munch lords anyway...

The thing is if your playing Kroq-Gar then there is no point of skinks in your army really he has a nice Lord ability that lets you have all the big bad dino's for cheap upkeep

But for all other lords this is not the case and you need to fill out the rest with cheap skink units unfortunately, Also Skinks aint all that bad they are fast can resist a nice amount of missle damage also to boot they have got good early game stats, and if you manage to get a javalin or the other one behind enemies they actually dish out a nice amount of damage

Chameleon skinks are awesome. All other skink units are quite usless, pointless. I hoping that in future game devs will add skink general. Like Skarsnik and night goblin warboss for greenskins. Goblins was usless too, but now they are cool and very interesting to play 😃
