(Vortex) Handling Lizardmen as Teclis
Playing Teclis on Hard, and quickly made all sorts of treaties with Lizardmen.

I realize this might be a mistake, because after defeating Skaven/Orcs/DarkElves on the southern mainland, I'm looking at Lizardmen who absolutely loves me, but who would never confederate me.

My solution (which likely was wrong) was to use their settlements as training sites for heroes, while dealing with them one by one.
None of them have declared war on me (the Dwarves eventually did, being the ONLY faction there I did not want to fight...), and have now almost all of southern lands under my control, and now Mazdamundi declared war on me (which is fine, apart from Dark Elves winning Vortex race).

Tyrion, while loving me, of course dont want to make anything to do with me, because I am highly unreliable (which is so very true, but I wish Tyrion would understand I would never lie to him).

In hindsight I would not make anything but trade aggrements with Lizardmen, ally with dwarves and elves only. Oh and the Tomb Kings who loves me as well.

Your's
Mentally unstable Teclis

Edit: Am I the only one who auto-resolves sieges, but loves doing all open field battles?

What can I say, diplomacy was never a strong point of any Total War game. It was just weird and it continues to be weird in TWW2. At least you probably didn't hear Tyrion addressing his twin brother as a "strange creature". Also factions who belong to different races cannot confederate with each other (not counting mods), so Lizardmen simply cannot confederate with you. Rule of a thumb, it's better to actually have defensive alliances rather than military.

Well, for most parts I like the diplomacy, well maybe not like but I live with it and focus on the strong parts of the game.

I think it was my own fault for not being long term strategic, and also really breaking with Roleplay and general logic.
First, do you think you would at any point want the lands of the one asking for alliance? If yes, stay on non-agression/trade, if no do defencive alliance and military if....:
Second, can you confederate? If yes continue point 1...
Thirdly, does it make any sense for you to form any kind of alliance? Dwarves sure (unless you are hard-core lore buff...), lizardmen not really, Tomb Lords... "what?", Skaven/DE no way.

I guess I assumed our relations would degrade and THEY would be the ones breaking it. But even though Izka (or whatever they are called) hated me as much as DE hates me, they held on to our alliance. They only broke it when I called upon their help when someone else attacked.
So don't even think influence would have been usefull.

So in short... think strategic and think Roleplaying.

I consider doing a re-play following those guidelines, and sort as such:

HE: Ally, defencive, trade, etc...
Dwarves: Defencive, trade, etc...
Humans: As dwarves.
Lizardmen: Trade, non-aggressive.
Tomb-Lords: Not sure... guess non-aggressive.
Rest: Kill if possible, never form any treaty.

My dear Teclis,

What are you thinking, allying with the inferior scaled worms? The Asur have a glorious birthright- the rule over all that is and isn't them! Treaties are for suckers! Real elves lock in that sexy legendary difficulty and declare war on everyone on turn 1, letting the fires of war scorch sky-high!

Reliability-ratings are for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and cucks like that Finubar-♥♥♥♥♥♥ (I totally bedded the Everqueen by the way, suck on that you sorry excuse for a Phoenix King!) Men and dwarves expect our superior race to use our pussified intrigue-mechanics, but that is exactly why they will never expect that we will simply murder everyone that comes within eye-sight! Intrigue's for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like Malekith.

Do you wanna be like Malekith? Of course you don't! Now go and enslave those dwarves!

Yours, Tyrion

I vassalized Teclis as Khalida (it was his idea). Diplomacy is weird.

To be fair, it made sense in context (he was getting devoured by Morathi) but I'm not used to the AI doing anything but stubbornly refusing to play nice.
