I didn't bother to use them much til Settra, i had some in other armies i let my friend control in our co-op but mostly i just use fodder plus archers and spells to steal the win. You can rule early game without them tbh.
But for my solo campaign i decided to give a chariot heavy army a go. Freakin loving it.
Depending on how unlucky you are with Khatep you can have two 20 stacks of beastmen in your area within the first few turns while fighting the dark elves at the same time. It can get downright nasty.
I haven't tried Arkhan yet but have watched some start ups for them on youtube, doesn't seem as hard to me.
Apparently Mortal Empires start for Khatep is pretty brutal. Im mainly doing Vortex atm.
Charge them in, press the 'J' keyboard shortcut to make them do an immediate 180 degree turn, charge them away, then turn them around and prep them for another charge.
It's better if you let them get some space in between themselves and their target before you order them to charge back in, so they can build up some momentum. Do this repeatedly for maximum profit.
You can, but considering how early you can recruit them, there's no reason not to use them. It's a cheap tier 1 building, and it'll be awhile before you can unlock any of the constructs.
So at the start it can be a challenge to get that titan in the right place fast enough while your skeletons are all getting slaughtered. Not to mention he starts with only one region that is not even a capital city, so it takes him longer to get to higher tier units.
The main thing with chariots is to understand their pathing and turning issues. If you just put them all in a group and then charge them, they get stuck on each other as well as their enemies much easier which can result in them dying quickly.
For example, lets say you have 6 melee chariots. Instead of one group, lock them into 2 groups with 3 each. Spread them out before hand so they don't get entangled on each other then lock them. Then you can use those two groups in a nasty wide formation. One of the most effective moves you can do is to send one group behind the enemy on one side and the other behind the enemy on the other side, then bring them in en masse into their back lines. After you do so, just press J to cycle them out. With them spread out and their mass they won't have as much issues getting out as before.
Unlock them as you see fit to have one group hit one enemy(like say an archer unit) then reposition and lock after.
It takes some practice but you can do very heavy damage this way and clear out infantry like no tomorrow.
Thanks!
Yeah that is his ME start, it's nasty if you are unlucky. Though you can send your titan up ahead before your units clash then when the enemy clusters around him, pop a sandstorm, and THEN engage with the enemy.
The titan is super slow though so you kinda have to commit to the fight you choose, he isnt going to chase much down. But hey if you manage to get the enemy lord involved, net him with a lore of light priest and then the titan will do work.
Yeah the scorpion if used right can carve infantry lines and terror route like nobody's business.
