Why are the high elves so quick to go to war against each other?

In the context of Tyrion's campaign, I'm trying to understand the lore around why the HE are quick to fight each other. Especially noticing Saphery pretty much trying to eliminate all HE, and even take out the everqueen's faction.

I'm also having a hard time understanding why they would want to destroy Arielle the Everqueen, then everytime you select their units they say stuff like "for the Everqueen"

Can someone make sense out of this using the lore? What am I missing here?

Due the game is not that scripted and doesn't follow most lore in the game same thing w/ historical TW game. The game is somewhat a sandbox theme.

Because high elves are petty about politics from my knowledge. But yeah I do agree with the Everqueen part it's a bit nonsensical to see them claim that stuff.

I don't know about lore but there are a few factions that get a relationship penalty with their fellow high elves.

Not to discount what you're saying and with all due respect, and arguabally not scripted, but these events unfold every time I play tyrion's campaign (heh I've restarted the campaign more than I can count)

1. Caledor gets rekt by the vamps or you steam roll them (either one happens)
2. Several HE factions get rekt by Saphery, including Arielles

In the early game, if you don't rush for the shrine of Asuryan, no doubt saphery takes it.
If you side up with Yyreese, Saphery won't like it because they go to war with each other really fast. I'm not sure who instigates it, but they both pretty much start hating each other.

So maybe not scripted, but "set up" for Saphery to steamroll the other elf factions, with the exception of Ellyrion, who seems to hold Saph off.

I'm thinking about restarting the campaign and taking out saphery early, because I wonder if its Saphery that is causing all of this crap.

Even you do this HE will still fight each other also Ai is pretty much anti-player to make the game a bit challenging unless your playing a modded game. You will be seeing some sht Greenskin asking some Dawi to join the war against you.

It's those big ears, if one elf has bigger ears than another then it starts a fight.

Yeah if HE didn't spend the first 50-150 turns beating the crap out of each other, they would be an insane force across the whole map. So basically for balance. Then again, maybe not in Warhammer, but in most fantasy settings, that seems to ironically be the problem with Elves in general. Can't stop fighting each other even when they're so badass they could take over the world easily.

Correct me if I'm wrong!

The evlish story is really complex. But I try to keep it as simple as possible.

The Elvish race has many different princes that are the leaders of the different Kingdoms while they elect a King to rule them all, the Phoenix King that where ultimativly Warmongers and expanding.
on the other hand there is the Everqueen with ehr maiden court that was always the opposite by being peacefull and going in a co-ruelrship for at least 1 year as a Phoenix Kings wife tos top him from forming a dictatorship. Afetr that one year they theoretically allwoed to split ways though it was not uncommon that they stayed togetehr also for political reasons. The Everqueen not get elected like the Phoenix Kigns by Asuryan but gets inherrited within the bloodline of the Kingdom of Avelorn.

The Elvish race in Warhammer started with the Elves that settled in Ulthuan and believed in a Phoenix God named Asuryan. In their fight against the deamons of of there heores Aenarion rised and became the first Pheonix King. He drove back the chaos and married Astarielle the Everqueen.
Astarielle was later killed by one of the Greater Deamons (Keeper of Secrets) N'Kari. However she left behind 2 children that where assumed to be dead for a long time.

Aenarion married then Morathi who helped him also to sleep with help of drugs. He only married her for her beauty even though she was manipulating him and in the end heart broken by Aenarion who also injured her in their last kiss. But befor that she gave birth to their son: Malekith.
As Aenarion was killed while defending Caledor Dragontamer the greatest elvish Archmage that gave his live with the other Archmages to create the Vortex, Malekith was not elected as heir to the throne despite his birth right. He instead became the Prince of Nagarythe and the elvish military leader.
The Prince of Tiranoc Bel Shanaar was elected as new Phoenix King instead.
Malekith murdered in an inquisition all his political enemies that where believed to be members of a Cult of Pleasures while in truth Morathi was the Leader and used that Cult of Pleasure to help his son and getting rid of his enemies to restore him as rightfull heir to the throne. He also succedded to kill Bel Shanaar which was believed by the others to be a suicide which was quite common was elves that normally not dies because of high age but ebcause they where simply bored with live after living thousand of years.

Malekith kept murdering all the other Princes that tried to oppose him and tried to claim the throne by force. He eventually was stopped by Asuryan the Phoenix God which burned him. Malekith was nrused back to strenght by his mother and he crafted a magical armor to hide his brunigns and relieve the pain from the magical fire.
They kept fighting but he was defeated when he tried to undo the Vortex by mages and he retreated with his followers to the north creatign a new Race the Druchii (Dark Elves) while the loyalist where from now on known as Asur (High Elves). However large parts of Ulthuan sank below the sea creating the island as it looks now.

After that the War of Beard against the Dwarfs started. Actually the Dwarfs and the Asur where forming an alliance. However the Druchii disguised as High Elves and attacked the Dwarfs. The Dwarfs tried to get compensation for that from the Asur by messengers. Hwoever the High Elves didnt knew of that attack as it also wasnt done by them and they believed that the Dwarfs would try to cheat moeny from them. As Result the Asur shaved the Dwarfs messegener Beards causign a war in which the next Pheonix King (Caledor II) was killed and the Dwarfs where attacking the elvish colonies at the old world (East). That forced the Asur to disabandond their colonies there as they could fight on both fronts. That ultimativly left elvish citizens in the old world that refused to leave and where then slaughtered by Greenskins, Beatsmen and Dwarfs. They tried to hide in the enchanted forest of Athel Loren. They went into a symbiosis with the forrest spirits and bacme known as Wood Elves.



Long Story short, you see that there was a long line of hatred within the Elves and all the male prices ultimativly fight for the throne. However they would be held back from being and one and only power God Kign because of the Everqueen which is also the pure manifistation of the Avelorn magic. If the defeat the Everqueen or the Kigndom of Avelorn they could ultimativly rule the Asur on their own and through. One one hand they need them, on the other hand they hate them as they cant be what normal elves are: Arrogant Conqueres that ultimativly seek for power until they get broed of life or getting killed because of politics and their failure to hold on to the power.
