Is there a way to "request" a settlement from an ally?
I have 3/4 settlements in a province and one of my allies came along and took the last one. Can I request it from him or do I need to take it by force?

Nope. But there's a mod that allows you to buy settlements in disputed provinces.

Just the mod that adds it as a diplomacy mechanic, buying and gifting. They balanced it some by needing enough favor with the faction to buy a settlement, and you have to have at least one settlement in that province already.

And then a mod that allows you to abandon a settlement.

I use this but dunno if it works for others.

Me too. Bloody Asrai have taken Barak Varr and planted trees all over it. In the Book!

Be careful with that mod above. The comments for it users say their Lord's stop gaining experience with it, which doesn't sound very optimal for a good campaign.
I wonder if you can install it. Clean up the settlement issues, and then uninstall it, or if you are stuck with having it for the rest of your campaign?

I've used it across several versions and never had that problem. Those people are usually missing, or for some reason having issues with, the required mods.

My Lords level a lot in ME. Guess its fine.

Thats pretty cool, because I tend to snatch off "left over"-cities and this way I can be diplomatic all the way :D Does it work with amber tho? I mean if I buy a settlement or city, do I still get amber? I think that would be rather cool because Wood Elves tend to be more diplomatic if you look at their tech tree that gives dipl. relations+ to basically everyone by at least 40-50 at the end. Also this would be a great tool to "save" a faction if you liberated a city from B but wanna give it to A so it has a complete province to build up on, so it has a chance.

I will have to go back and look again, but I don't remember a list of other required mods - which in itself is a problem imo. Why other mods also needed? Suddenly you got a half dozen new mods to screw things up.

It requires a framework mod because it adds UI things. Or something like that. Not as easy as just adding textures onto something. It lists the required mod on the mod page to the right as well. Only one other mod is needed. It's pretty lightweight and hassle free if you ask me. I like it an use it at times. I also always miss this feature in TW games. As long as it can be balanced somehow.

Modding has always been a big part of TW games and a lot of other PC games for a long time. That is proven to be a very good thing and a staple of PC gaming. Those dudes have improved on and added a lot.

There are good reasons for this option in game. I can't be bothered going to war every time in a campaign when an AI ally swoops in and snags my last territory in a province when I was fighting for it all along. I might not want war with them at that time in the campaign or at all. For whatever reasons. It also allows gifting to bring an ally back or help them out.

It's the "UI modding framework", it's what allows the working of all these mods that require the making of new interfaces.

It should have a feature definitely civ games have them. But most the time ai is too stuffy to trade stuff unless they get the much better deal.
