Probably in this order.
Honourable mentions:
Black and White 2 - When will this finally get a real sequel?
Metal Fatigue - Same applies as above.
2. Company of Heroes, just beats out DoW1 for me, as much as I have loved GW stuff I like WW2 a bit more.
3. Xcom EU/EW.
4. Warcraft 2 (never got to play 3) was as close as one could get to a Warhammer RTS back in the day.
5. Ultimate General: Civil War, whatever the devs do next with this series they can take my money.
Honourable mentions to CoH 2 (just not as great in the moment as CoH 1), DoW 1 plus expansions, the original Xcom, Dune 2 (though after the first couple of C&C/ Age of... games I went off the majority of traditional RTS games) and...
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor and Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes, yes they are technically strategy games and when all I had was a DS they kept me sane in bad times.
C&C (cant decided b/w Yuri's Revenge, Zero hour and Tiberian Sun), Warcraft 3, XCOM EW, Civilization V, Company of Heroes, TWWH2.
I have been so addicted to gaming that i have decided to limit myself only to the games mentioned above, or their sequels, for the rest of my life.
Age of Empires II
Starcraft Broodwars
Rome Total War
Medieval 2 Total War
Warhammer 2
2. Crusader Kings 2
3. Mount and Blade Warband
4. Age of Empires 2
5. Heroes of Might and Magic 3
Supreme Commander (FA)
Xcom 1 + 2
C&C Generals: Zero hour
Stellaris
good times...
Total Annihilation.
Command&Conquer: Tiberian Dawn
Annnd....that's it. They don't make em' like the classics these days. EA screwed CnC over.
Warcraft 3 RoC
Starcraft 2 WoL
C&C 3 Tiberium wars
Total War Warhammer 2
2. TW WH2
3. Halo Wars 2
4. Age of Mythology
5. Company of Heroes 2
Dawn of War 1 with soulstorm and other xpacks,
Red Alert 2 : Yuri's revenge
Total War Warhammer trilogy (I'm counting the whoel thing as one game since they combine)
Empire Earth II Art of supremacy
.. probably. I'm not sure about the 5th one, I can think of several that could take its place easily, the other 4 are above the rest though, and I'm dead set on number one being Sacrifice.
THinking of it, would you count giant citizen kabuto as a strategy game by the way?
