Really they're the best front line
Once you reach proper late game, it becomes a different matter. There, Black Orcs are the single most effective greenskin infantry and no Goblin unit can do what those guys can. That's where things start to deviate and Goblin armies start to rely on monsters for damage and tankiness in melee, while the Orcs can just switch to Black Orcs and call it a day.
Even with Black Orcs it would be prudent to support them with some higher tier monsters, Black Orcs do struggle against other higher tier units like Chosen Greatweapons and Swordmasters.
Not to mention his +charge bonus, a biguns could reach the charge of a shock cavalry
I agree. My point was, that Black Orcs are a very reliable heavy infantry frontline unit and there is nothing compareable on the Goblin side, but spicing them up with monsters is of course the way to go for a balanced army approach.
So we conclude boosting your line with monsters even with black Orcs is most prudent? Every faction that can would do exactly the same thing, that's amounts to black orcs losing a line fight, even if you get into a situational fight monsters would give you a advantage where HE, DE or Chaos wouldn't have none.
