Mine for example are Vanhal from the Black Plague novels, Alith Anar from Sundering novels+, Malus Darkblade with Spiite from his novels, Malekith from Sundering novels, Nagash from Rise of Nagash novels+, and Vlad from the Vampire Wars.
Nagash and Malekith are so popular that Blizzard combined their ripoff versions, Ner'zhul and Arthas, to form the Lich King. Also, Malekith is pretty much Annekin/Darth Vader.
Gotrek seems to be mentioned by a lot of people. Thanquol is another that is mentioned a lot.
The wiki's tend to be hit or miss for each character because the lore is all over the place, so if you're researching using wiki's then you will miss out on a lot. Vanhal's wiki for example is very different from the novels. And you don't really get into the personalities of the characters if you just read about them on the wiki. And don't use Lorehammer's stuff, CA says he's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
But i really like Tehenhauin
Then there's Malekith from Sundering. Imladrik was one of the best characters in War of Vengeance trilogy.
Well, firstly, id say almost anyone from a book series. Gotrek, Felix, Malus, Thanquol, etc.
Though I'm somewhat Neutral on him (mostly due to him not being nearly as cool in battle in this game as he was on tabletop.) I've found Settra to be incredibly popular with almost...anyone. Wulfrik is similar, though that might be because lorewise he literally goes round insulting people until they duel him.
Villains with depth are obviously fairly popular, and WH is no exception. Vlad, Malekith, Skarsnik. Latter is especially notable for me personally, as he doesn't get as much focus as orc warbosses like Grimgor and Azhag, yet arguably does more damage than they ever did.
To be honest, I'd say most characters have their fans, EXCEPT the ones that actually dominate their factions, in a lot of cases. Grimgor, Archeon, Mannfred, Queek, Orion and Tyrion are characters that, while not unpopular, don't seem to have the fanbase's love like the ones i already mentioned.
Who needs some pointy eared better than you teclis when you have ikit.
Neferata
Characters already in? Long list
Vlad
Tyrion
Franz
Sigvald
Settra
Alith anar
Lokhir
Malekith
Ikit
And 2 old dudes who are too awesome to die... Kroak and Gombrindal
Also... I absolutely hate Mannfred and to a lesser extent tretch
When you want a interesting character rather than "Warlock Engineer +1"
And im not sure about Nefatata....i always felt shes completely overshadowed in the fanbase by Vlad and Abhorash. Doesnt help that her faction for a lot of the run was "Von carsteins that dont like men"
Ikit knew every lore. And is not an elf, so bonus points. Ikit is literally Ironrat. Ikit created the doomsphere. Ikit brought us ratling guns and jezzails after so long hoping. Ikit didnt spend half the lore saying "lets all be friends".
Well, they ditched that whole knowing every magic lore pretty quick in the fluff. Though i admit him not being an Elf is a point or ten in his favor.
If you drag it down to that level any character is just "Archetype +1"
Thanquol, just a grey seer +1
Morathi, sorceress +1
Queek, warlord +1
Etc etc etc
