Can't get the Sword of Khaine as Chaos

Beat Tyrion with the Sword, Alastar with the Sword but it just returns to the Shrine every time.

And this playthrough I managed to get Kholek regen and all i need is the Sword for it to be perfect. Anybody else have this problem?

Not every race can claim the sword. If you look on the corner of your commands, it will say who has the sword. IF you see that, chances are you can claim the sword. Otherwise, nope

When did they change that then? I thought it was a simple matter of "as an elf, build the Shrine and claim the Sword" or "as anybody else, beat the elf holding the Sword"...

I’m pretty sure anyone can steal the sword as long as it has been first claimed by an Elven faction. Are you sure you’re not accidentally returning it? You should get a prompt that will allow you to choose whether to take it or not. I’ve taken it as Archaon before, so I don’t really see why you wouldn’t be able to.

Edit: Just checked the wiki and other sources. You can take it as any race. Make sure you’re not declining it and it’s not a mod conflict.

Yes, I always ASSUMED that any race could get the Sword once the Elves had released it. But I certainly haven't tried it with all the races so could be mistaken.

As soon as I beat the lord who has the Sword the Sword disappears and next turn the Sword is back in the Shrine. No event prompt.

That seems weird. You definitely could claim the sword from those who have drawn it before; I killed Malekith and took it from him before.

He'd make Aenerion look like a kid throwing tantrum.

Kholek can definitely hold the sword; I've done it and it's hysterical (but not as hysterical as Durthu).

wrong, i played as Archaon didnt show the Sword of Khaine button at the bottom right but i still managed to get it

Man, this thread suffered from wrong informations at the start. Heavily.

You can get the SoK with everyone, Chaos probably is just still bugged and CA didn't get the message. This issue is persisting for a few patches now.

Draw the SoK: Elves.
Obtain the SoK from Elves through defeating the army: Everyone.

Same Problem here, i wont get the sword after the defeat...

what can i do to fix that?
