Actually he wanted to destroy the Chaos Gods by any means necesary, so ending the world the only way to do it.

Well it is complicated, basically Archaon hated Chaos Gods the most of all things, so his only purpose in life became finding the means to destoy them. Even if it meant that he had to become their servant first.

But that was before Games workshop retconned a lot of things. Before the retcon, this was the only world, so it was logical that he would destroy the world, and that way end Chaos gods, cause they didnt have a source from where to draw their power.

The aftermath was Age of Sigmar.

In other words, he didnt kill the gods, cause GW decided they needed to reset this setting, delete everything, and establish new lore for their new game, with many worlds and still active chaos gods.

Archaon still exists in AoS along with chaos gods and many other old friends. :steamfacepalm:

Age of Sigmar is Warhammer Fantasy after punk-rock armour came into fashion.

Archaon was originally a devout Sigmarite. Then he ended up reading from a forbidden text of prophecies and found his own name listed there, as the one who would end up becoming the greatest and most terrible champion of the Chaos Gods. This, understandably, drove him a little mad and he immediately abandoned his old name, setting off on a quest to find a way out of this prophecy.

Naturally, because the Chaos Gods are total ****s about this sort of thing, his quest ended up being a relentless search for more power. The Chaos Gods provide a lot of power. So he ended up pledging himself to them. Archaon never stopped wanting to destroy the Chaos Gods and learned that they grow stronger as more people worship them. Therefore, they will grow weak and starve if nobody is able to worship them: thus, destroy the world and everyone in it.

That he himself would die is irrelevant. The Chaos Gods would also be dead. He wins through killing himself and everything else.

This isn’t exactly correct a lot of the lore of Archaon was fleshed out in the 2 book archon series from black library and he’s much more of a tragic character

Archaon was born from the rape of a human woman and a Norse raider who was actually bel’akor the first human to become a demon prince who was cursed by tzeetch to never become the everchosen but always forced to crown them

So he plans to sire children and after once of them becomes everchosen he plans to take over their body and inturn become everchosen to cheat the curse

Archaon is left at a temple of sigmar where he grows up to become a Templar knight of sigmar, one day he rescues a priestess of sigmar from some beastmen who shows him the book with the prophecy of the everchosen

That priestess was another child of bel’akor in disguise who wanted to make sure Archaon saw the prophecy, he takes the book to the temple of sigmar and asks who is Archaon? And he learns that who every asks who Archaon is infact Archaon himself, all the imperials throw everything and the kitchen sink to try and kill him, ofc Archaon feels betrayed he spent his entire life serving sigmar and then he asks 1 question and is dammed for eternity

He has no choice but to escape to the chaos wastes but he dosnt plan to serve chaos because he knows he truth, that the chaos gods feed on emotions and that as long as living things exist chaos can never be defeated

He wants to kill every living thing and then himself so that the chaos gods starve to death

The third eye is actually the eye of Sherian it’s a chaos artifact and one of the 8 treasures he had to find

He grew larger because of the warping effect of the chaos wastes

In AoS Archaon is the grand marshal of chaos but is just ducking around and really dosnt care because there’s no point with the whole multiverse thing and he dosnt give a ♥♥♥♥ about the chaos gods still like he spit in the horned rats face after he became a chaos god

He could have just breed more cow-people. All the methane they produce would cause global warming. After a couple centuries he could picknick in the Norscan tropical paradise while watching the rest burn or drown. And no more room for plotholes.

He took the quicker route and found the delete button under an Empire city. Alt and Control were balancing each other out.

I kind of wanted to know what happened after he did the control, alt, delete cause the wiki i read says that as the world faded into oblivion a single speck of light flickered as the old gods turned their attention elsewhere, "He reached forth his hand, and a miracle took place." What's the miracle?
