Best way for Empire to deal with mammoth spam?
Wulfric is running around with no less than 13 mammoths in his army, and it's been a huge pain trying to deal with it.
I've beat him once by auto resolving when I had two 20 stacks to his one, but now he's back again. I'd really like to beat him manually, but I'm having a real hard time finding an army comp. that doesn't get rolled by all those mammoths.
Got any advice?

handgunners and cannons will take care of it just focus fire. U can use some halbadiers or demigriphs to hold them a bit until ur guns do the job.

Yeah this. Volley guns will also make quick work of mammoths. Mammoths are big enough that any direct fire range should be able to shoot them from the back line.

You need to compare the values of the units. A full stack of Mammoths probably is worth around 2 stacks of yours.

Norsca can be painful for Empire to deal with, I've found. If the Mammoths aren't armored, then Huntsmen + Halberds can do pretty well. Otherwise, Halberds and Handgunners.

If you're high tier enough, lots of Demigryphs with Halberds will make quick work of the mammoths and pretty much anything else.

Mmm, I didn't think of that. I kept trying to move my handgunners and arty around to get clear lines of sight (as usual), and they'd get bushwhacked by skinwolves or chariots, and my halberdiers would be dead before they got there anyway.
I'll try investing in some more Helbasters and give it another shot.
Thanks for the advice, guys!

I'm late game, so money and tech isn't the issue so much as that I'm tied up dealing with Chaos as well, AND the greenskins managed to all unite under Grimgor, kick the drawfs out of the mountains east of Sylvania, and now I've got Grimgor, Azhag, and Wurrzag all rolling deep with their black orc crews all over the eastern edge of my empire.

I'm trying to retrofit existing armies to deal with Norsca's resurgence and the greenskin threat, but I think I'll just have to create a new, very expensive one back in Altdorf and have some low level lord bring it to Franz or Gelt on the front.
Wulfric actually ambushed the last one of those I tried WITH his ridiculous mammoth spam. That was the first time I saw it and it cost me a ton of money. : p

Yeah if the target is big enough then direct fire should just be able to shoot it over your front line, since they'll be aiming up. Oh also since he's bringing skinwolves be careful with your cavalry. Skinwolves make really short work of cav, even demis with halberds.

Make them cross the alps and then never fight them.

Found that out the hard way. : \
I've never really played as Norsca, and I haven't really played as a faction that spends a lot of time fighting them since before they got their own DLC, so I'm kind of learning what they've got by throwing different armies at them. Definitely going to play a Norsca campaign soon though, these guys seem sweet.

I feel like these mammoths are probably pretty cool with mountains. : p

Hellblaster make much better work of them than a canon. Simply compare the dmg (both are ap)and the mammoth is fat enough that the whole volley hit.

Wow.... nobody mentioning halberds with huntsman spam? Literslly anti large army :/ whack in some cannons and gg ez

In WH2, I've noticed that it's much easier to maintain clear lines for Handgunners. I've rarely had to move them too much.

Would huntsmen be worth it against the armored mammoths (which most of Wulfric's are in my game)?
Maybe a couple huntsmen units for skinwolf duty?
