Demigryph Knights pls explain
Okay so any Empire player who can explain to me something about the Demigryph knights.
They are anti-infantry.
163 armor
44 Melee Atk
42 Melee Defence
Armored-Shielded-Armor Piercing

Cost ♥♥♥♥ tons of gold to maintain crazy good stats i charged into melee to fight infantry units but these guys melt quite quickly. I know it says shock cavalry but thats just suggested use. With the stats they have shouldnt they be able to cut thru infantry units like butter and have more staying power? I know enemy also has improved stats and all but why do these cav units feel so weak 85% of the time?

I actually have better use out of them charging enemy cavalry XD Don't even make the Halberd ones for that lol.

I like to have frontline cores of crossbowmen. I know they're ranged, but that's just suggested use.

I tested against sword infantry when i started noticing they are losing too much hp in fights and its weird they should be their hard counter but lose tons of hp.

Against chaos i know they are very OP so it didnt bother me. But other human armies and orkz that felt wrong.

Keep in mind they have less models. It pretty much means they can get mobbed easily. Pretty much for every time your demigryph swings, he's getting hit by 3 different guys. Same problem large monsters can have when caught in melee. Your better off keeping them charging.

Tactics are more important than counters. They're shock cav. Charge the enemy in the side or rear, pull out once your charge bonus expires, repeat.

Don't just facetank them into a unit and expect them to do well because counters. Total War is not Starcraft.

They are large targets which mean they take a LOT of hits if left in sustained combat. Keep them moving so they don't eat an assembly lines worth of swords a second.

Wut? I think they are one of the best cavalry units you can play with "fire&forget" style. Just charge them to pretty much anything expect strong anti large, and they are guaranteed to make things difficult for the enemies.
And if you micro them well they are even better of course.

Basically all cav sucks bar blood knights and grail knights... well on legendary anyway. Only send cav to attack super weak units or units already engaged in combat to flank them. Never send cav 1v1 to melee infantry they dont have enough damage to wipe them before the charge bonus ends and just get chipped away becoming useless the rest of the game. Grail knights end game can even charge Phoenix guard and beat them... they are insane and a full stack of grail knights with louen is probs the strongest army in the game.

Ah i see. So even though their stats are much higher maybe for sustain i should use Empire Knights who have 60 models rather than the 30 of the demy`s?
For 1v1 i understand i should be charging and rotating.
BUt on 2v2-3v3 campaign battles it gets chaotic very quickly and sometimes the battle spreads around the whole map and its not that easy to keep swapping and charging cavs.
Also i admit my micro is not that good.

No demis are far superior but with no healing you cant let them tank. They need to flank engaged units. Empire knights suck and do nothing... totally useless. Also youre playing on ultra size units so high tier infantry always come out top... ultra is not balanced at all

Well some of mid support armies use Empire knights or Reiksguard because Norsca have so much cavalry in their armies i think im fighting the mongols.
Its rather annoying. I had a huge battle where it took me ages to win because they had to run out of arrows before i can engage them in proper combat.

Just make lots of missile infantry and big guns. Empire has some of the best firepower in the game. Makes skirmisher armies a joke to beat.

Well not necessarily more...but about the same amount. I'd take 4-6 missile inf, 2-4 guns. Hellstorms are great, they even got buffed for some reason in the latest patch. Hellblasters are great. Cannons are decent too but honestly i don't think you need them if you can get those hell-guns. Lot of artillery makes sieges very easy too as you can just batter down the towers and walls, then close in with archers to shoot everything on the walls/behind them.

Use something like light wizards net of amyntok and/or huntsman generals snare ability to pin down and focus fire on high priority targets in field battles.
