To turn wind spells, hold down the mouse button and move your mouse to rotate it.
When clicking the icon of a spell it's edges get highlighted ; it's a simple spell cast. When clicking twice on it, both the edges and the spell's icon gets highlighted ; it's a double cast.
Changing the direction of a spell for a spell that does have the option to be redirected is a two steps process :
1) Choose the spell to activate and the position to click where you want it to be casted.
2) When clicking to cast the spell DO NOT RELEASE THE MOUSE'S BUTTON. Exactly like you would do with an unit's formation, maintain the button of the mouse pushed down and move the cursor to rotate the spell's blasting area to the desired direction. THEN release the mouse button for the spell to be casted.
Bonus step 3) Have fun.
1) left clicking once on the spell icon will turn the bottom arrow blue and will cast the basic version of the spell.
2) left clicking a second time on the spell icon will turn both arrows blue and will cast the overcasted version of the spell (referred as the upgraded spell on the spell tool tip).
3) Choose a target for the spell.
You can overcast in TW:WH 1 but changing direction of the spell was added in the 2nd game.
Overcast should work in Wh1 as usual.
Changing direction of a spell is a Wh2 feature.
