Temple guard have charge defense, armor piercing and are armored and shielded.
They will not go into a rampage, so you never lose control, and so far I have not seing a unit of them routing even with just 7 units remaining. They also have more hit points if I recall correclly.
I would say that depend of the bonus of your lord. As Mazdamundi I use temple guards for the reduced unkeep (each unit of temple guard in his army is consting me 53 gold per turn, at the same time a Saurus would cost me over 180).
By the way, unless you are fighting Skavens, Saurus and temple guards units are not really there to win the battle for you, they are there to hold the lines while your monsters destroy the enemy
with the right research and hero skills saurus warriors have even higher melee attack and defense
and yeah, kroxigors and various dinosaurs for the quest battle.
Where did you get these numbers, appreciate the answer btw.
